3.0 out of 5 stars Though it dragged in spots, this was a good book!
I enjoyed how Deanna and Patterson started out wary of one another then, little by little, they broke down the stero-types and began to appreciate each other and see how much the had in common. There romance built into this beautiful love. I could feel it grow for not just each other but also for Jade - who was adorable. The ending was kind of quick, throwing in the...

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, September 1, 2001
This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
Sandra Kitt can always be counted on to bring together most unlikely people, and make them see how right they are for each other. In this novel the woman and man are from different economics and social class. Also the woman who is content to be childless falls for a young biracial child.

Librarian Deanna recieves a phone call to come to the morgue to identify a body of a friend she has not seen in years. While at the morgue she meets fireman Patterson (Pat) Temple. Feeling he is beneath her with his ordinary city job, they do not appear to hit it off, but there is some underlining attraction.

Imagine, more to Deanna surprise, she is named guardian of little Jade. A child she has never seen. More to her surprise, Jade has connection with Pat and his grandmother, so once again they are thrown together by circumstances.

Deanna has been content to be childless, but feels obligated to take in this child. She finds out motherhood could be difficult but she is willing to give it a go. She has a good support system and her best support is Pat.

Deanna becomes more curious about this man. She checks out his amateur band. They begin to interact more and more with each other, and the sparks ignite. Instead of putting out this fire, it is fanned more and more until Pat realizes that Deanna is the one!!

While reading I did not really think of this as a romance novel. Just a story where two people got together because of circumstance and started a relationship that blossomed into love. This is a book I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a great read -- Ms. Kitt is the One!, September 18, 2002

This is one of my favorite books by Ms. Kitt. It was believable, warm and endearing. The main characters were strong and the little girl, adorable. Although the main character and her mother were estranged at the beginning of the book, her mother is there when she needs her the most. It's a book about trust, hope and a belief that "nice guys don't always finish last!" Another great read from Ms. Kitt!

I enjoyed how Deanna and Patterson started out wary of one another then, little by little, they broke down the stero-types and began to appreciate each other and see how much the had in common. There romance built into this beautiful love. I could feel it grow for not just each other but also for Jade - who was adorable. The ending was kind of quick, throwing in the "Nancy" thing seemed a bit much and I don't understand why the writer made being a fireman sound as if it's scrapping the bottom of the barrel and something to be ashamed of but otherwise, it was a good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...great storytelling...!, November 15, 2002

This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
This was my first Sandra Kitt romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her writing flowed with the smoothness of an experienced story teller with no bothersome errors or strange plot twists. The 2 main characters, Deanna and Patterson are mature, introspective individuals and the journey through their relationship as it grows from friendship to love is great reading. The child's dialogue (Jade) was well written and believable as well. I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Kitt's work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Great!, September 3, 2001

This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
I purchased this book on the fly and I must say this book was one of the best purchases I've ever made. The characters were strong, honest, and so believable. This is my first encounter with Sandra Kitt and I promise I will continue reading books by Ms. Kitt. Her writing appears to be well researched, credible and simply enjoyable. I couldn't put this book down. The main characters, Deanna and Patterson, progressed into love. Deanna's relationship with Jade was a testament of how love and family can change a person's life almost instantaneously.

4.0 out of 5 stars BORROWED HIT, January 25, 2005

This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
I have never been attracted to the storylines Ms.Kitt has provided in the past, however this one was loaned to me for my lonely days on maternity bedrest and what great entertainment it turned out to be!
The story moves a little slow in the beginning but it is pure entertainment watching the relationship between Deanna and Patterson bloom.
For a quick read try this one..

This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
Sandra Kitt is a writer for our time and she keeps giving her all. This book, SHE'S THE ONE, is a dramatic story that covers the tensions and insecurities faced when becoming romantically involved with someone of another social circle. It looks at changing priorities and, in the end, shows how some things that we think are important don't really matter at all.

Deanna Lindsay, an educated, upscale TV footage librarian, learns that a former acquaintance has died and left her responsible for the care of her (the dead woman's) child, Jade. Along with this unexpected revelation, Deanna meets Patterson Temple, a fireman and musician, and also an idol of Jade's. Deanna and Patterson acknowledge their differences and realize they are from two different worlds. The only thing that they have in common is their concern for Jade.

Of course, Jade changes Deanna's life, and with it her priorities. As Deanna and Patterson continue to nurture Jade, a fondness, then desire develops between them.

This is a very good and very realistic book. Highly recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book., March 30, 2011
This review is from: She's the One (Paperback)
This is the first book (that I can recall) that I have read by Sandra Kitt and I must say I truly enjoyed it. Patterson got on my nerve a little in the beginning but I did think he was kind of sexy. I think they made a good mix and balanced each other out really well. Deanna wasn't afraid to say what was on her mind and she didn't really put up with his mess too much. I didn't really get where Natalie (the lady from her job) fit into this whole story, it seemed to me like she was just kind of put in there as a side bar. But I did really enjoy the book.

Althought Sandra Kitt is a prolific writer, she only releases approximately one book per year. When she does, though, it's always a best seller. No one has to guess why that's true. Strong writing, characters that we care about, and unique situations. Her novels are always well researched and well written. Her characters are people we all want to know and enjoy. That is true of her lastest release, "She's The One."

The hero and heroine: strong, confident and together powerful make a strong story for the reader. Kitt has always been a favorite in black romances and she continues to show passionate love and family together. Their love for the child makes you know what family is all about.
