Editorial Reviews

Tony Danza is a dutiful but downright hysterical dad in SHE'S OUT OF CONTROL, the comedy about every teenager's greatest dream and every father's worst nightmare. Danza stars as Doug Simpson, a hip radio station exec, and the relatively stable single father of two daughters. But when Doug returnshome from a business trip, he finds his fiancee (Catherine Hicks) has turned his life upside down by transforming his eldest daughter Katie (Ami Dolenz) from an awkward adolescent to an absolute knockout. Faced with the realization that his suddenly-sensational daughter is the dream date of every high school male old enough to have a learner's permit, Doug does his best to rain on Katie's endless parade of punkers, preppies and precocious would-be suitors. Will this over-protective, over-zealous dad ever find a place in his "little girl's" heart again?

I recomend any dad watch this flick. If you have a daughter you will relate... Every Daddy's fear ... his daughter growing up. That is what this is about. It is hard to let go sometimes and at times we just don't know how. Tony in this movies has that problem and perhaps by watching it we may learn something. Most likely what not to do but hey.

Keeping in mind that this is not Shakespeare, Chekov, or Ibsen here... it's a great movie! Every teenage girl should see this movie -- yes, it is a bit "old" by today's standards, but the plot is still great.
When Katie blooms into this glamorous, teen vixen overnight (with the help of her dad's girlfriend) her overprotective father is baffled and disapproving. When she first came walking down the staircase, backlit in that white eyelet dress and Frankie Avalon comes on in the background... I wanted to be that girl! Any twelve year old can appreciate this movie ;)
So... if you like lighthearted movies, this is a fun coming of age story that's worth a viewing.

Growing up I loved watching this movie and paid more in rental charges than I would have spent on just buying the movie. Now that I am grown and raising my own family I still enjoy the movie just as much. I have to say this is probably my favorite all time film.

Tony Danza is absolutely perfect as the overly protective father! Ami Dolenz, the real-life daughter of musician Micky Dolenz (the Monkees), is wonderful as the innocent girl who just wants to have some fun!

Don't let the title fool you, this is a great family friendly comedy that never ventures into unwanted territory. Most of the comedy arises from the fact that Danza's character has an overactive imagination.

Great fun for parents with teens or teens with parents :)

This is an excellent coming-of-age story for fathers and daughters who have not been overly sheltered to watch together. It can help to break the ice about a lot of topics in a fun way. It is fun for the kids to watch by themselves, and bears watching over and over again. There is something for everyone. It is well-paced, and rich in the soundtrack of the sixties, since Dad is a DJ. Wallace Shawn is priceless as the know-it-all Psychiatrist specializing in adolescents. Catherine Hicks' (Dad's girlfriend) is very effective (and very feminine) as she tansforms the ugly duckling fifteen year-old Ami Dolenz (yes, Mickey's daughter) into something her father will never recognize.

How can anyone not at least "like" this movie? It is "out of control", but in a fun way - and it is far from "creepy" (as one reviewer put it) but instead "campy". By no means is this Shakespeare nor meant to be such, but simply intended to be the light, laughable and (depending upon one's own perception) maybe even thought provoking pic that it has become over the past several years. Thanks for giving us a lighthearted comedy to think and smile about!

"She's out of Control" is the greatest movie. Tony Danza plays a great father and he reminds me of my dad. An overprotective dad who's looking out for his little girl. If you're a dad with a daughter, you are going to love this movie!!

EXCEPT, THAT WITH ME I WASN'T VERY POPULAR WITH THE BOYS . I RECOMMEND U WATCH IT WITH YOUR DAUGHTERS. I JUST WISH THEY HAD IT ON DVD IT BE A GOOD IDEA IF IT CAME OUT ON DVD. NOBODY WANTS VHS.
