Man, these girls are Fun-ny!,

Just when you thought Ellen Degeneres, Roseanne Barr and Whoppi Goldberg were the only funny comediennes you knew, along comes Judy Brown with a book dedictated to humor from the top comediennes today. What a joy it is to read a book that I can not only relate to, but also want to smack my boyfriend over the head with! I am buying one for my two sisters AND my mother!

LOL in Public!,
This review is from: She's So Funny: 1,768 of the Best Jokes From Women Comedians (Paperback)
Judy Brown handed me this book at the annual Booksellers of America Convention when it first came out. I am not one to purchase joke books.
I began taking this book with me to waiting rooms, airports, the car dealership (waiting for service work), etc. I thought I'd check it out. I cannot tell you how many times I just burst out laughing in public. I have laughed and laughed and laughed. When I've tried to read some of these jokes to others I've laughed so hard while reading that tears were streaming down my face and I couldn't get the words out because I couldn't stop laughing. Great therapy for anyone who is stressed out!!

Women Comics Crack Wise,

"She's So Funny" is Judy Brown's best compilation of jokes so far. And I'm not saying that just because I'm one of the comics quoted in the book! Judy has collected only the best jokes: the smartest, the leanest, and the punchiest. And they're all written and performed by women. As far as I know, that's a first. Also, a lot of the women are my friends. I like the layout, the type face, the categories. It's fun to read. A must for slumber parties, bachelor parties, and sorority parties! Do yourself a favor and get a copy. You'll laugh till your ovaries ache!

Wow, every Judy Brown joke book gets better than the last. 'She's So Funny' is an absolute riot. Every joke is so hilarious it's hard to put down. This makes an excellent gift for male or female.

I got it for my sister in law for Christmas- and before I wrapped it read a bunch of it out loud and my boyfriend and I were cracking up at most of the jokes. So it was worth the buy in my opinion. Some jokes were cheesy but not every joke can be a hit.

A Good Range of Female Comics,

Compiling all the best quotable comediennes and organizing them into categories can be hard work, but Judy Brown manages it yet again in She's So Funny. (Is that a pun on the Beatles' song "She's So Heavy?")
I laughed especially hard at this joke by Sheila Wenz: "I've always had pets. I know I should have a child someday, but I wonder, could I love something that doesn't crap in a box?" Totie Fields, Phyllis Diller, Kate Clinton, Roseanne Barr, Margaret Cho, and Janeane Garafelo represent five generations of edgy and mainstream, hilarious and witty women. Even though women comediennes have been featured in other books, I like this one, along with Funny Women by Bill Adler. If you are a woman who can appreciate some humor, of just someone who likes comedy, read She's So Funny.

I literally loudly laughed while in my doctor's office reading this! The jokes are from women comedians. The humor is some old-school (Phyllis Diller) but loads of contemporary (Ellen Degeneres). Bonus: there is a chapter called "Green Room," where there are mini biographies of all the comedians! Huge, heart two thumbs-up!

The book is hilarious! From the time I picked it I read it straight through cover to cover - non stop crack ups! I highly recommend it. There's now a show featuring some of the lady's featured in the book at http://www.shessofunny.com. There's a lot of information there. I hope they make it a tour, a sort of Lilith for Comedy! |
