an incredible album!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shhh (Audio CD)
i remember running to the radio the first time i heard "BOOM BOOM", it was crazy! it had cumbia, rap, the trademark bird and even elements of john lee hooker it seemed. i knew AB had done it again. the sophmore jinx was blown out the box with this release. after i bought the album - it was like finding a pot of gold. "SSH" was even crazier! "Me Enamore" i never stop playing, the english songs are tight, and they even included 5 acts of comedy & a couple of remixes. with a lot of artists releasing albums with 2 hits & the rest fillers - AB truly wanted to give back to his fans. he did that & more! the first album is a Classic, this one is Legendary!!! GO OUT AND GET IT! ...

Like always, they deliver their best work!,

I love the Kumbia Kings. If you're a big fan of their first album you will most definitely love this second album of theirs. They put a new twist on the genre of Cumbia, integrating freestyle and hip-hop with their songs. Also, they sing some pretty love ballads in English. It's a great, long CD with different styles of songs. Check it out - you won't regret it!

Los Kumbia Kings nos ponen a bailar!,

This album is great! I've been a A.B fan since he was with Selena and as good as he produces his Tejano music, he produces great pop and R&B music. Some people say that A.B. is a sell-out with this album, but that's simply not true because A.B. has always done R&B and pop music even when he was with Selena. This album is the outcome of AB's desire to produce the variety of music that interests him and the group. A.B and the Kumbia Kings are true to themselves, their music and fans and definitly not "sell-outs" no matter what they play; tejano, pop or R&B, they will always rock. And as for that particular person who said "This CD makes me wish someone like Yolanda would join his fan club and put an end to this sell out roller coaster, I wish Selena and A.B. could switch places, we love Selena", If you really wish something like that, then you must not Love Selena as much as you say you do, because you would'nt talk with so much disrespect about Selena's own brother. Anyway, to wrap things up, this is a great album and if you liked that the style and songs of the last album you'll like this album, too. You gotta hand it to AB, because he's the master of cumbia songs and the guys are great energetic singers. Kumbia Kings!

I think that the Kumbia Kings-Shhh cd is the best! It has everything, it has slow songs and songs that you can dance to. Plus, it is not just in English or just in Spanish, it is both mixed together. All I can say is I love this cd. It's great!

A wonderful blend of Pop and Tejano,

I never thought it could be accomplished but it definitely has with this album. A.B. Quintanilla III has successfully crossed the lines of pop and tejano music for this innovative album. I have never been an avid tejano music fan, but the Kumbia Kings have brought me over. It's a great album from beginning to end and I highly recommend it for someone who wants to try new music.

Legend on hold,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shhh (Audio CD)
When Selena died, her music was criticized by the vulgar side for being too pop, too pretty, too insubstantial. While all of Selena's fans rightly rejected these untruths, it would appear that A.B. believed every word and changed his style to impress those who never were impressed with Selena in the first place. I had vainly imagined that somebody with his talent would continue to write and produce classic pop and tejano for a similarly gifted female vocalist. Now A.B. is not Selena and he can do whatever he wants with his career, but how unfortunate for all lovers of great music that he has chosen to make CDs for early teen and pre-teen girls instead of rewarding those who recognized his absolute greatness for the work he did for his sister. These immature recordings will be forgotten before these teenage girls grow up, but the music he might have made with a mature and talented vocalist, following in the style of the music of Selena, would surely have endured forever in latin music legend for as long as Selena's own recordings. Actually, some of the ballads here are listenable, to be fair, but the Spanish stuff sounds just like more of the current trend, without the vulgarity. If you like immature music, A.B. has surely mastered it, but there's not much here for those who enjoy beautiful and memorable contemporary latin pop or tejano. A.B., you've got talent like Lennon and McCartney. You can follow the current, safe course and sell as many CDs as the Backstreet Boys, or you can be great and perhaps still sell as many CDs while also bringing enjoyment to the parents and grandparents of those teenage girls. Whatever is most important to you. You're still a genius.

I still listen to it!,

This is one cd of less than 5 cd's that I still own. You'll want to dance and then reminisce during the ballads. I Really like all the songs except 2 that were less than great:Boom Boom and In Da Zone. If you're a big Kumbia King's fan you have to have this cd!
