The Most Beautiful Thing I've Ever Heard,
This review is from: Shi De: A Call for World Peace (Audio CD)
My title says it all. This music is breathtaking. It transports me to another place. The blend of voice & instruments is perfect.
I had this CD going in the background while talking on the phone with the tech department at a store. The person on the other end of the phone kept stopping talking mid-sentence and pausing. I couldn't figure out why..Finally she said, "What is that music you have playing?. It's so-o-o beautiful!" I have to agree. I've never heard anything like it.

Dechen's voice is very nice. The problem is that in the final mixing the guitar and other instruments is too much in the foreground. Dechen's voice seems to be covered over and often you cannot hear what she is saying. This is also hampered by the fact that her voice is often near to the same octave as the instrumentation. This should have been fixed in the mix but alas, what could have been a much better CD is left wanting. On a number of tracks she sings background for herself and often this is not mixed well with the foreground voice also being obscured. She is obviously very talented but my conclusion is that this work is technically overreaching and many of the vocals and instrumentation overly complex.
If you want to hear her in a much better work then start with Dewa Che
