Extraordinary, May 12, 2006
This review is from: Shiatsu (Paperback)
This book is not only written well, it is comprehensive in its approach to cover much of Eastern medicine. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is studying or wants to study massage therapy. For the student also, there are self exams to test what you've learned. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge contained within these pages. Excellent book!

A Modern Perspective on an Ancient Practice, April 16, 2006
This review is from: Shiatsu (Paperback)
This book explains Chinese Medicine, which seems like Eastern mysticism on the face of it, and uses Western concepts to approach the subject matter. For instance, Five Element Theory is explained using Western literary figures, like Uncle Scrooge, Don Quixote, and Frankenstein. This is an excellent book for anyone seeking a professional and rational approach to massage therapy, without sacrificing the traditional understanding of it.
Shiatsu Massage and Chinese Medicine are still practiced today and have been practiced for hundreds, possibly thousands of years. This book takes the old world language and successfully modernizes it, lending it legitimacy. For this reason, the book is a must have for professional therapists who want to be taken seriously.
