5.0 out of 5 stars The Shiled of Honor, March 14, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Shield of Honor (Wakefield Dynasty #3) (Paperback)
The Shield of Honor is a historical fiction book written by Gilbert Morris about religeous persecution in the 16th century. It is the third book in the series called The Wakefield Dynasty. This book is about the reign of King Charles and the riligious civil war. The main character in the beginning of the book is Christopher Wakefield. When he was a young adult all that he liked to do was drink and party. Finally his parents got fed up with him and got him on a ship as a crew member. Sir Robin (Chris's dad) knew the capitan, so he took Chris on to live under strict command untill he could better manage his life. When Chris was still working on the Mayflower he sailed over to Plymouth with the Pilgrams. While he was over there he met Patience Livingston whom he eventually married. Chris Returns to England a new man. Later on the two have a baby named Gavin. The story then swiches from the main character being Chris to the main character being Gavin. Gavin grows up to be a respectable man who dislikes catholis. Then he has to go fight in the war. Eventually either Oliver Cormwell or King Charles wins the war and then one of them gets excuted. Some of the other characters are susane and francine, the two women that he has to choose between to marry. This is a really good book that I suggest that you read.

2.0 out of 5 stars same story, different names, October 2, 2000

This review is from: The Shield of Honor (Wakefield Dynasty #3) (Paperback)
I don't know if anyone has noticed but these books are the same plot with different generations and Kings/Queens. I finished this book, but am sorry to say that I am done with this Dynasty. Stick with Morris' more original plots and love stories, I started the fourth and put it down. Way to much historical depth and no real desire to see the characters flourish, sorry to say.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor plot and re-occurring, tiresome, scenarios, December 29, 2001
This review is from: The Shield of Honor (Wakefield Dynasty #3) (Paperback)
I've read three of the seven Wakefield Dynasty books. Yes, they do have a tendency to repeat the same scenes over with new charachters. I would highly recommend "THE SWORD OF TRUTH" (Wakefield Dynasty #1), but after the second book the re-occurring plots and scenes get old. I do have to admit though that I have definetly have gotten my English history out of them!
