5.0 out of 5 stars A must read if you're fed up with American politics, January 12, 2004
By
Wayne Garrison (Scottsdale, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
The book is a fast moving read that inspires us to ponder something that contemporary political and historical pundits would say could never happen - a third party that successfully captures the White House. The writer carefully weaves a story that begins in the dream world and winds up inspiring a nation to leave behind the rancor of partisan politics for truth and a new direction - blending the best of conservative and liberal causes, ending self-serving special interest politics, and harnessing the creative energy of enlightened capitalism. Told in a spiritual context, the story will take you on a journey involving inspired telepathic messages, shamans, prophecy, characters that you'll recognize on the current national scene, and finally a re-awakening of the true American spirit. Read this book to gain insight into what can be in the America and the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Book That Can Change The World, November 24, 2003
This is the book that can change the political landscape of America and the ultimate destiny of the planet. It's been a long time since I was affected this much by a book. I noticed EVERYONE who wrote a review on Amazon gave it 5 stars! I'm so inspired by the message of hope for our future, that I'm sending letters to thousands of bookstores around the country at my own expense. Perhaps, some of the readers of this review can do similar things or even contact the book editor of their local newspaper. The book is fiction but the story and the characters of The Shift seem very real - it's a wonderful future we have in store for us if enough readers get this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A profound and highly recommended reading experience, September 21, 2003
Deftly edited by Rolf V. Lange, The Shift: An Awakening is a moving contemporary novel by John English, who explores what would happen if spiritually minded people used the power of their conscious intent to give themselves voice in politics, voting booths, and government itself -- and if a new party arose that embraced the concerns of Americans everywhere. Embracing the power within individual people, and the strength that lies in destiny, The Shift is a profound and highly recommended reading experience that blends mysticism with a very real concern of what type of world shall be left behind for our children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spirit, Consciousness and Politics, April 18, 2004
By
Suzanne Keehn (Palo Alto, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
Have you ever wondered if spirit, consciousness, politics and humanity could come together to create a shift that would change the world?

At a time when I was personally struggling for Faith and Direction in my next step, I attended a powerful healing circle and prayed for both. That evening a good friend handed me a book titled, THE SHIFT: An Awakening by John English. I never imagined my next step would come in the form of a novel. I was blown away by this inspiring visionary fiction which takes place in present day America.

The main character, Scott, has a dream born from the disillusionment of modern day politics. Sound familiar? We follow Scott's journey and see how spirit moves through our lives and makes use of our talents once we are committed. Scott's journey shows us how one person can indeed make a difference. Told in a spiritual context, this story takes place in our current day world. It is a fast paced story that ties together Spirit, politics, our beloved planet, prophecy, and shamans. This story shows how spirit and matter works together in our lives when there is a clear vision and intent. We see what is possible for awakening the human spirit as well as the spirit of America

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely, Prophetic and Hopeful, May 7, 2004
By
This "novel" has a novel theme - what if those of us fed up with big business as usual, aka US and Illuminati worldwide policies, had a choice? What if there existed a 3rd viable political party in the US which embraced any and all who listen to their hearts? [No offence intended to Greens, et al].

I have heard Mr. English speak at a local bookstore. His emphasis was not on "pushing" the book, but empowering us to act from our hearts and to carry out our Divine Missions. This novel is the story of one man who follows his heart and creates great positive changes in the world in so doing. John English encourages us to intend our transition from fear-based to heart-based actions, as demonstrated by the novel's main character, Scott.

Read this book, if you desire to change yourself - and this great country - for the better!

5.0 out of 5 stars To the possible, not the probable, August 17, 2003
By A Customer
I liked The Shift. Author John English has delivered an inspired re-imagination of politics as it could be - full of reverence for the earth and all her creatures, and above all, hope. The story is the unfolding of how one righteous individual, with a true connection to spiritual power and the courage of his convictions, can be the seed of renewal. The basic ingredients of the plot are: a "mad as hell, I'm not going to take it anymore" protagonist named Scott Stahl, an apocalyptic comet heading toward the earth, the internet as political leveler, and spirituality grounded in direct experience of the divine. Although the plot is an improbable mix of ingredients, it works well and the message is contemporary and necessary: we - each individual - must choose in our hearts the kind of world we want, and we must act on our choosing with conviction - now. As the author states in his forward to the book, "to the possible, instead of the probable." Read this book, you'll walk away inspired.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, horrible editing, May 13, 2004
By A Customer
This is a delightful visionary book that explores American politics in a unique, mystical way. Providing an enlightened roadmap to how we could all change the course of our planet's future, the book takes us on a journey of possibilities. My only complaint is the terrible editing. There are numerous spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book which really detracts from the readability and credibility of this book. A good proofreader should have caught these errors. Still, an enjoyable read!
