Review

Finally, a spiritual book written for the laymen! March 7, 2012
I am so glad that I found this book, or should I say, this book found me. I was in need of a deeper understanding of myself and the life that I was living. Shift Happens, really makes these concepts easy to understand and apply to my own life.

From the Author

I'm using my notes on this human experience to point to the shifts that usher us into living an Awakened life. It's about discovering that we are the keepers of our own happiness, and the key to our best life has been in our back pocket all along. What this book is not, is an attempt to change your mind about anything. That's your job. I can liken the writing of this book to me making you a sandwich. I can make you a sandwich, but I can't eat or digest it for you. Only you can do that. I can write the words in this book, but I can't give you Conscious expansion. The hungrier you are, the better the sandwich tastes. Spiritual growth, Conscious expansion, getting closer to God, gaining control, freeing yourself, finding your life purpose or the life of your dreams, all have the same thing in common. It's really an inside job. This is a journey for which we have shown up fully equipped. We have everything we need including the road map.

Some look for the fountain of youth. Gina's "Shift Happens" is the fountain of happiness. Thought-provoking, present-enriching, her writing is of equal caliber as Gregg Braden's (The Divine Matrix) and other Hay House authors.

I have never written a book review, but I always read book reviews before I buy a book. Because this book has had a PROFOUND impact on my life, I have decided to take the time to not just recommend it to my friends, but to recommend it to all you strangers who will read this review.

It is obvious that the author has been influenced by many of the metaphysical giants of our day. Indeed she gives many of them credit for guiding her on her journey. What makes her approach so unique is the way she BLENDS it all together. She has a fresh and funny way - a DIFFERENT way- of describing and saying the same things, making it easy for anyone to UNDERSTAND, REMEMBER and APPLY.

She offered me invaluable tools for getting through the day in a conscious manner. Not just pointing out that I needed to, but the HOW TO DO IT!! I benefitted from her real life examples and her many metaphors. My favorites are the "straw" and "movie" metaphors which my mind actually remembers and uses when I find myself feeling uncomfortable or uneasy during the day.

Simply put, the book is: easy and fun to read or listen to; simple - yet profound; and a new way of looking at and synthesizing many metaphysical ideas into one powerful read. I have read many books and usually feel wiser, but the same. Now I am not only wiser, but different. A shift has happened and I will never be the same.

This book is truly a layperson's guide to awakening. You really don't have to know very much about spiritual principles to follow Gina's fun and easy to read style of how-to "awaken." I'm not sure exactly what awakening is, yet with Gina's explanations it does not seem hard to do nor unattainable. This book is geared for everyday life. It is well worth reading, studying and putting its teachings into practice.
