Book Description

May 1, 2012 The Shade Trilogy (Book 2)
In the second book of the Shade trilogy from Jeri Smith-Ready, Aura is torn between the two boys who hold her heart—and determined to unravel the secrets of the Shift.

Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.

Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one at her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift. She’s not the only one seeking answers, though, and danger grows as she discovers new truths.

Who can Aura trust with her secrets? And to whom will she give her heart?

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first!!!!! May 3, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Let me start by saying this book was awesome and I hope I do it justice.

I loved Shade and the world Jeri created with the pre and post shifters so I couldn't wait to read Shift and I was not disappointed! Picking up Shift was like coming home. Shift picks up a couple of months after Shade ended and digs right back into the story. There are some amazing moments of steamy passion, mixed with action scenes that have you gripping the sides of your chair, as well as some utterly heartbreaking moments that will leave you with a pile of Kleenex next to you.

The connection I felt with these characters was just so real I could feel Aura's anguish over having to chose between Logan and Zachary and I also felt their pain with decisions they had to make. I also enjoyed getting to know Dylan (Logan's little brother) more I loved the scenes with him and Aura his awkwardness made me laugh and his desire to protect Aura was heartwarming. I really loved seeing the growth in other characters as well like Mickey and Siobhan. Of course there were the baddies from the DMP who were up to no good like usual.

The story unfolds so effortlessly between the love triangle which has become even more complicated with the addition of a few other people and the story about Aura and Zachary researching the shift and why it happened. There are some interesting discoveries and some disturbing clues that they find by the end of the book. You'll want to grab a copy of Shine and read it so you can find out what happens too bad we have to wait a year to read the conclusion which I know will be epic! Shift comes out May 3rd so remember to put it on your to buy list. Go to bookstores, order it from Amazon I don't care how you buy the book but BUY IT you will not be disappointed. I don't normally rate reviews on the blog but this definitely deserves an off the charts 5 stars!

I received this copy of Shift from Jeri Smith-Ready for review it does not reflect on my review in any way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! May 12, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Aura thought she lost her ghost boyfriend Logan forever when he turned Shade, but she is shocked to find that as the first person born since the Shift, she has the power to turn him back into a regular ghost...and more. But the discovery of her new powers holds many implications, and complicates things with Zachary. It's becoming clear that Aura needs to choose between the two of them, but she'll need them both in order to solve the mysteries her mother took with her to the grave.

Shift picks up right where Shade left off, and it doesn't let go of the reader for a second. Smith-Ready continues to slowly reveal little pieces about the Shift , all the while uncovering more and more puzzles for Aura and Zachary to work through. However, their search isn't the only thing on Aura's mind--she is far from over Logan, especially since he doesn't seem to be able to move on, and Smith-Ready does an excellent job at balancing her conflicting feelings for Logan, the grief her friends and his family still hold on to, and the search for the truth with Zachary. Both boys are vivid, wonderfully drawn characters; despite being dead, Logan's bigger than life personality continues to shine through, and Zachary's manner of speaking and little habits make him tangible. The stakes are raised and things heat up as secrets become more valuable, the DMP closes in, and Aura is forced to choose between Logan and Zachary once and for all. Shift is another outstanding book that will leave readers breathless.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Avid Reader's Review May 4, 2011
By Yani
Format:Hardcover
There could not have been a better sequel to Shade than Shift. It's freaking perfect! And if it where to end right now, without a third book it would leave me satisfied. Don't get me wrong, I am dying to know what comes next for Aura, but the ending was just fantastic.

As you all know I love my ghosts and Logan, despite his immature behavior at times, is my favorite ghost boy. In this book you can see how his afterlife has affected him, he has matured. Even though has hasn't aged a day over 17, he is becoming more adult. But as much as I love Logan, Zachary stole my heart in this book.

As it is the second book more is revealed about he shift, and how the solstices and all that astronomy stuff has to do with it. I have never been into astronomy before, but this book makes me want to go sit outside and stare at the stars.

There where some unexpected twists, especially in the first couple of pages and the last, so even though the mystery is unraveling there is till more to learn. I don't want to give too much away other that one of my favorite scenes that was both just funny and heart wrenching was this scene that Aura, Megan, Logan and Zachary where all in the same room having a meeting of the minds. I just loved that scene.

If you have read Shade Go out and pre-order this book now!! It comes out May 3!
