4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't take too much space - works
Installed this in my minivan. Works as described. Doesn't take too much space, but may be hard to see if you don't have it mounted close. Power cable jack came loose about 6 months after installing, but if you secure the cable, it should be fine. I did a simple solder job to fix the jack, and works well again.

This is a wireless system -- the camera on the rear transmits the picture to the monitor screen in front. In theory only. I had this installed by mechanics that have installed similar items before: they could not get it to work. I spent several hours moving the monitor in innumerable ways -- sometimes I got a flicker of picture, but it never lasted more than a few seconds. It seemed to react to my body movements: I got a good picture once by holding my arm across the passenger seat, but when I moved my arm, the picture went away. Even if it did work, the screen -- two and a half inches -- is too small to be helpful.
The distributor says it was discontinued two years ago. And they never did do customer service on the item. So --- utter flop.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shift3 rear view camera system, December 5, 2011
This review is from: Shift3 Wireless Rear View Camera (Sports)
As with most "wireless" systems, this one is not truly wireless. You must supply 12 volt power to both camera and monitor. However, as I discovered, there is an additional requirement with this system; the power supply and ground to camera and monitor must be the same source. If you connect the camera to one supply (say an independent battery) and the monitor to your cigarette lighter, the system will not function. Make sure you connect camera and monitor to the same voltage source and ground.
