This review is from: Shifting Realities (Audio CD)
The recent success of the Italiogothic femmemetal band Lacuna Coil has focused the spotlight for music fans on other femmemetal bands such as Nightwish and Within Temptation. These two bands however, play a different style, a symphonic, rather than alternative style of femmemetal. For a closer version of Lacuna Coil's style, one needs to look no further than Italy where another Italiogothic femmemetal band, Dakura, holds forth.

No, the music is not quite the same but it's closer than many other femmemetal bands. Like Lacuna Coil, Dakrua augments their lady singer, Eva Rondinelli, with the bass player William Quattrone, who unlike Andreas in Lacuna Coil, mixes straight singing with cookie monster vox. While beauty & beast aficionados may appreciate this, many other listeners may not. All I can say is that with repeated listens the raspy vox becomes less noticeable.

The best songs on this album, in my opinion are, Frozen Sun and Deceive Me.

Shifting Realities, released in 2002 is Dakrua's sophomore release, their first being Inner Wastelands, released in 1999. They have not released anything since and may now be inactive.

For anyone looking for a sound similar to Lacuna Coil, Dakrua may be right up their alley.
