A thorough and comprehensive work. This book has become the standard reference on Japanese pottery. Shigaraki is a rural valley outside Kyoto with distinctive clays that have been used for pottery making for over 7 centuries. The author Louise Cort is Curator for Ceramics at the Freer Gallery, Smithsonian Institution.
