3.0 out of 5 stars If they would just shut up it would be great..., March 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Shiggar Fraggar Show 1 (Audio CD)
This CD could get five stars if the DJ's would just shut up and do what they're good at. When these guys get on the one-and-two they drop bombs. But there's just too much garbage on this CD for it to get more than three stars. Their skills are mad but they display them all too infrequently. I have to admit though, some of their banter is funny but most of it is just dumb. The last two tracks on this cd are great as is the Drunken Puss track, they bring back some awesome old-school beats.

What they need to do is make a "Best of" cd of all the four or five Shiggar Fraggar Show cds that cuts out all the bull**** and is just solid scrathing tracks.

For a much better display of turntabilsm check out the Return of The DJ Series I, II and III cds. These are incredible, with no babbling ... in between the tracks - just solid scratching and mixing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underground for the Underbelly, June 22, 2000
By
Erik Berkule (Decatur, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shiggar Fraggar Show 1 (Audio CD)
If you wanted a taste of the San Francisco DJ culture, then this is the collection for you. It is hardcore scratchin', beat jugglin', freestylin' and clownin' by one of the country's premiere DJ groups, the Invisible Scratch Piklz.

The samples are amazing. They range from very recognizable old school beats to really obscure local radio commercials. For those of you into hip-hop who are sick of the recycled junk being thrown around the radio dials these days, then I suggest you check out one of the only true skillful musical genres around. While much of the music is sampled, it is done in a way that does not infer ownership by the DJ. It is more about your skill in manipulating beats, rhymes and baselines. Also check out the "Live at The Future Primitive Sound Sessions" CDs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably the worst of the shiggar fraggars, November 2, 2004
This review is from: Shiggar Fraggar Show 1 (Audio CD)
This album is OK, get it if you are collecting the shiggar fraggar series. There is SOOO much talking that they never really get to mixing some dope-ass beats, nikka werd.

The Shiggar Fraggar Show Volume 2, however, is AWESOME and I highly recommend it instead of this one. Lots of talent and good music in that one. I think this first one is still OK, but maybe they were just warming up for the rest.
