This review is from: Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design
As a sophomore mechanical engineering major, I've seen my fair share of textbooks throughout my collegiate and high school careers. This is definitely not one of the better books I've seen. The chapters are incredibly dense with confusing example problems and hard to follow prose. What's worse are the homework problems, though. Many of them are incredibly vague and poorly written and simply aren't good problems.
Another annoying inconvenience is that while every odd numbered page says the chapter title on it, they don't provide the chapter number or section number/title of the current page, making the book more difficult to navigate than it otherwise could be.
If you're assigned this book for class then unfortunately you don't have much choice, but if you have a choice I would avoid this.
