4.0 out of 5 stars Love Sherri King, August 22, 2009

This review is from: Shikar - Caress of Flame (Paperback)
I give this one 3 1/2 stars for a Sherri King novel which is 4 to 5 stars in comparison to other authors. If you are in the mood for something nice and light for a quick afternoon read this maybe it. I love everything King writes and buy it immediately. The best of this series is "Ride the Lightning." Other recommendations by Sherri King are "Hyde" and "Fetish."

5.0 out of 5 stars Shikar, August 7, 2008
This review is from: Shikar - Caress of Flame (Paperback)
Isis is troubled. Preferring to be alone, she has spent the past years moving from place to place trying to escape her past. A stripper at night, she loses herself in the music, in the feelings on stage. While at a convenience store after her performance, Isis hears the sounds of a fight and sees a man plunge his hand into the chest of his fallen enemy before setting his heart on fire. When she makes a sound, he spies her and he definitely isn't human. No human can throw flames from his hands.

The next day, Isis gets the feeling of being watched, but goes on stage as normal. Well, normal except for the six and a half feet of furious male who marches up on stage to kidnap her, leaving a string of broken bouncer bodies behind. The same man whom she saw last night.

Flare is a Shikar warrior and he has been watching over Isis for two weeks now. The Daemon she saw him kill the night before was after her, after her psychic power and it is up to Flare to protect her - to guard her from their kind and to protect her from her memories as well as the Daemon threat. Isis was hurt terribly in the past, culminating in one horrendous event that triggered her actions to the present. If she is to accept his love, they will have to overcome her past - together.

I am a long-time fan of Sherri L. King, and seeing as Ravenous was my first e-book purchase, I may have a slight bias when it comes to her extraordinary work. Caress of Flame is a stunning book. Every page gripped me, the scenery coming alive with the strength of the words on the page. I physically ached from the pain of Isis' past. I felt her pleasure at Flare's touch, and her love and need for him. Flare is incredibly gentle with Isis, but also dominant when he needs to be.

Caress of Flame drew me in with the first flickering promise of heat, and burnt me with the inferno of need that blazed between Isis and Flare. I loved Caress of Flame, and I can't wait to read the next book in the incredible Horde Wars series.
