I picked this book up at a library sale, not quite sure what I was getting myself into. This is a timeless classic! I couldn't quit reading it! The story follows the main characters Taniko and Jebu as they start their journeys in life. Jebu is a young monk in the Order of the Zinja on his first mission; to escort Tankio to her wedding some leauges away. They fall in love in the short journey and pledge never to forget one another. The story follows Jebu as he completes more and more missions for his Order while trying to find a meaning in life without Tankio. Tankio is married off in a purely political marriage and has to try and manuever the treachrous waters of Court life. Will the two ever see each other? Can love really be everlasting?

"Shike" is a story that I could easily never forget. It has unique characters and it's amazing to see how they go through their lives with each other. Please, please pick this book up and give it a chance. I promise it won't disappoint!

I remember reading this book series many years ago. So when my teenage son was going through an "all things ninja/samurai" phase, I had to get him these books. He loved them as much as I. Shared experiences are great. Shared with your children they are even better!
