Great Campaigns June 21, 1987
The battle of Shiloh on April 6-7 1862 was the biggest battle of the Civil War up to that date; the gallant stand of the then-unknown Union General Ulysses S. Grant created a new national hero and was the turning point in the career of the Civil War's eventual victor.

essential reading for anyone interested in the civil war,the text is not bogged down with to much detail and gives a good overall picture of the campaign and the battles fought in it,i particularly like the side bars in the book giving details of various characters, units or happenings during the campaign.

This review is from: Shiloh Campaign March-april 1862 (Great Campaigns) (Hardcover)
This is a fun book about one my favorite Civil War battles. The book has good illustrations and it is overall attractively packaged and it is a good introductory book, but the text has a good many "typos" or just down right errors. It seems I have gotten a lot of books like this lately. Bad editing? Whatever.
