Shimano® Saros® F Spinning Reel

I have a 3000 size Saros that is a great all-around reel. I wanted something lighter for trout so I bought a 1000 size. It has a much nicer feel for 3 or 4 lb fish. I use both reels at the same time but the 1000 is clearly the more enjoyable one. Of course the lighter rod I use with it has a lot to do with that.
I believe the Saros is the sweet spot between very expensive and lower quality models.
I'm now sold on Shimano because of a recent experience with one of their rods. I crushed it in a door jamb. That was a Monday. I sent it off to Shimano and the following Thursday there was a brand new, no charge rod on my door step.

This is not a review of the product but a review of the seller. beware! Maybe i have been spoiled with amazon prime. I ordered this product in mid Dec. Im used to packages getting here in 3 to 4 days. This package did not even get shipped until today. Becareful if you need this product soon for a trip. I have also read some reviews else where about about the gears breaking down after about a year. I will give updates if i ever get this reel.

Bought two of these reels (Shimano Saros 2500) for my sons in 12/2010. Worked great for 9 months, then the entire insides (gears) just started falling apart. Estimate for repair exceeded the cost of the reel so I replaced the reel with a Shimano stradic. Local store owner told me that he has had several complaints with the Saros model "insides break down" with in a years time. They recomended the Stradic for a few dollars more with no reported problems. More than a year later I am totally happy....so far with this decision. Go with the Saros...
