I bought this chain for an old mountain bike I have w/ Shimano XT, but the bike is over 20 years old, and is a 6 speed uniglide. Even though this is an HG (hyperglide) chain, it fits and works perfectly. I haven't put hundreds or thousands of miles on it yet, but it works much better than the old chain that was on the bike.

Cost-effective and strong chain if kept lubed, but rusts very quickly.,

Overall this chain is still kicking on my moutnain bike, but it isn't a perfect fit (too wide) for modern drivetrains. It will rust quickly (within a day) if not properly lubed after wet or damp early-morning rides. Overall good for the price but a $10 upgrade will get you a much better, smoother, and lower-maintenance chain.

Chains are pretty commodity things in bikes.
They will probably last the same if they are from the top brands. One thing i didn't know about the shimano chains is that you can't reuse the pins after you eject them once. And the chain, which cost more than any other brand, came only with one of those pins. That's just plain cheap. The main problem with it is that if you don't have a good bike shop nearby, like myself, you will have to buy some 50-pack of those pins online.

Factory new chain. Make sure you get a breaker since it's a universal fit and needs to be cut to length before putting it on and pressing back together.

This is a well designed chain.
The description does not mention that it is a bushingless chain, which was an unexpected surprise. If you don't know what I'm talking about. Sheldon Brown does an in depth discussion. [..] I bought 2, when I put on the next one I'll order 2 more. I use a chain stretch gauge.

For the price its always good to have a extra set around incase it breaks. I was able to get my old chain and put in the new one in less than 10 minutes. Since its prelubed I just hopped on and started riding. My bike is stored outside in the patio of my apartment. So far there hasnt been rust on the chain but my other parts of my bike is starting to rust.

Best universal chain for up to 8-speeds,
This review is from: Shimano CN-HG70 6/7/8-Speed Chain Fits, Black (Sports)
If you're a daily rider on all terrains and don't care about 9-speeds and up on the latest, most expensive bicycles, this is your best choice. It's wider and heavier than most chains, which makes it just about indestructible. Just be sure you have a good chain breaker and use a top-quality lube. It should last for many hundreds of miles with no problem at all with all shifters and cassettes. I use it on all my bikes, which are 7 and 8 speeds.

No complaints, really. Seems very smooth, though of course I just put it on, so maybe it will get worse - who knows? Seems to be pretty high quality, though. I dinged it one star since it doesn't have one of those special links that doesn't require a chain breaking tool to connect, which can be a little bit of a pain to use.

good chain,

It's a good chain and was a snap to install on my mountain bike but wish I had bought it on Amazon. I paid $30 for this same chain at a sporting goods store.
