Hill Climbing Sub,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shimano CS-6700 Ultegra Bicycle Cassette (10-Speed) (Sports)
Bought this cassette in anticipation of some sustained climbs. Normally have a 11-25 Dura Ace cassette but saved some money by going with Ultegra. Only a few grams heavier but offered the 28 cog to get me easily up the steep pitches. Shifted fine as you would expect.

I was suffering on the uphills against my friends that had a compact set at the front chainrings.
I upgraded from a 25 to this cassette which made a difference for the uphill parts of the terrain. Also, the 11 is nice when going downhill. Good compromise overall.

I bought this to replace my SRAM red cog after using a chain for too long and wearing it out. The weight difference is negligible and it actually shifts better IMO. I used to think all te components needed to be the lightest, but man it's expensive to think that way!! You can't beat the price either, locally in Miami thiis sells for $110 and the SRAM for $230 so this was a natural choice for me. Buy this instead of SRAM red or dura ace. Oh and a
Amazon is the bomb!

Shimano CS-6700 Ultegra 11/28 Freewheel Cassette,

This review is from: Shimano CS-6700 Ultegra Bicycle Cassette (10-Speed) (Sports)
After purchasing a set of training wheels for a new bike, I wanted a quality cassette closely matching the Shimano Dura Ace cassette that came with the wheel set on the bike, but something more affordable. The CS- 6700 Ultegra Cassette purchased through Amazon, at a very competive price, has been highly satisfactory - giving the same smooth shifting I get with the Dura Ace components I have. I would highly recommend this cassette to anybody wanting a quality Shimano component at a reasonable price, with this range of sprockets.

This is a review for the 11/28 cassette....It's a very good cassette, very quite and changes without any skipping or noise the 28 tooth helps me up some mountain roads and the 11 tooth gets me down the other side fast, all in all a very good cassette.

This cassette shifts smoothly when matched with Ultegra components and the 11/28t is versatile and helps with hills for those who prefer a standard crankset.

I am an avid cyclist/racer and although I have used Dura-ace cassettes simply because they came as original equipment on some bikes that I have obtained, I always replaced those with Ultegra 6700 cassettes when the original equipment needed replacement. They are considerably less expensive and work flawlessly. I have also gotten almost 10,000 miles out of them. Here in the flatlands of Florida, my choice is always the 11-23 model.

I thought a 28 cog cassette might be a bit much but it came in very handy on last weekend's 90 mile ride on some pretty hilly terrain. I was able to climb in the 39 tooth front ring easily with it and with the long cage rear derailleur, it worked very well. I have a triple on the front so unless you're in the rockies you might see a 30-28 ratio a bit of overkill but not for me (flatlander). It would probaly work great with a compact crankset (50-34) and practically eliminate (make obsolete the 53-39-30) the need for the triple front rings.

I bought this one to replace a 11-23 ultegra on my road bike (with 53/39 crankset). The diference going up hills is from here to heaven. Before this I used to walk on the long hills( I ride on stn mtn,ga). Last week I went on a 30 miles trip on grayson GA (most on hills) and I didn't stop on any hill. I been surprised my self with the change.

I use this together with my 53/39 front and it works great on all hills I ride while still giving me an awesome gear on the flats for hammering. I really like the pricing on the Ultegra too, almost as good as Dura-Ace but much cheaper.
