5.0 out of 5 stars Good rod, and great deal
This may be the cheapest rod you can ever find. Plus, it is distributed in sportsauthority stores, about 9.99 each. So you can try them in person if you have sportsauthority nearby. Many people doubt them just because of the too low price tag, which are cheaper than many children rods. In fact, they are really decent rods. Shimano's catolog even mentions that this series...

3.0 out of 5 stars Shimano FX Spinning Rod 5'6"
Nice second rod. Could have more line loops and needs a place to attach hook.

Shimano's catolog even mentions that this series is good for light salt water fishing, which it does. I mainly fish in Long Island. and no rust is found in guides after one year use.

I have three FX rod, 7' 6.6' and 5'. Because of their prices, I am not forced to take much care of them. I just put them into trunk, and never worry about them. after 1 year use, there is no indication of damage. Believe me, they are sensitive, and light.

I highly recommend them. Their too low prices should not be the reason keeping you from them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, August 28, 2009

This is a low end Shimano Rod. It was exactly what I needed as a pair of
trolling rods in terms of stiffness at base and flexibility at the tip.
I use it for both mono and for leadcore. I also use them for bait fishing
and jigging. I would not recommend them for flipping/casting as they are
thick diameter and not as light on the wrist and Shimano has lots of better
rods for that. But in terms of price and quality, for my purposes,
they can't be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauled in a 10+ lber largemouth with it!, October 5, 2010
This review is from: Shimano FXC 2 Piece Casting Rod (Sports)
Bought this 2 piece rod to put in the back of the SUV when we go visit the inlaws. I have other rods worth hundreds of dollars more I use when fishing from my boat, but this is the one that hauls in my personal best. It's not as sensative as your higher end rods and not as light and well balance, but it is well worth the money. It has good back bone and is built tough. It has outlasted other 2 pc rods I have purchased and after all the 6'0" model was strong enough to haul in a 10+ 27" largemouth bass while fishing it with a texas rigged plastic worm.

i have another rods, but when i used for the first time i am really surprised , you can compare with another expensive rods with the same results, it is light and strong, this is really a good rod for fresh and salt water (use the medium heavy is really functional in both environments) .

4.0 out of 5 stars Good budget UL rod, August 23, 2007
I bought this rod to replace a light rod that I broke early in the season. I picked this one because its very cheap and a name brand. I'm quite happy with this rod. I've paired it with an Abu Garcia Cardinal 100 reel. It casts smoothly, feels great, and is very light. No problems casting over and over. It carres easily and so far hold up to my rough usage.

The only down side to this rod is that the part of the reel seat that screws in is the bottom part, so you hand rests on that. It's not the most comfortable place to put it, since you are resting your hands on the threads. But, again, it's a very light rod and the weight definately doesn't cause problems. I could see this as a good rod to start someone young with.

I haven't caught anything with it yet but, given that it was only $15 (I got the MH version), it's definitely worth the money. I'm now sure about the sensitivity but I'm float fishing for channel cats with it and it wasn't an issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shimano FXS 2 Piece Spinning Rod review, July 29, 2011
I really like this rod. I have it paired with a shimano IX-2000RC spinning reel. I have used baitcast reels my whole life and decided to try a spinning setup for lighter lures. Anyway I have the 6ft medium action rod. It has good action and dosent feel like a cheap rod. It has everything you could want in a rod (except for a hook keeper). Some people do not like 2 peice rods but this does not bother me because I can take it apart for travel. The place where the 2 peices connect is solid and I have no problems there. Overall it is built well and priced even better. The only (small) complaint I have is there is no hook keeper but like I stated earlier no problem for me just keep in mind when buying. Would definantly reccomend to anyone that wants a good cheap spinning rod.
