Shimano HG50 7-Speed Cassette

17 bucks....booyah. My bike shop wanted 40 bucks plus install for this. I have never replaced a cassette before but it was easy. Keep in mind that you need a freewheel remover to get this off. I bought the Park Tool FR-5 from amazon as well and it worked perfectly.

The Cassette is 2 months old and no problems. Makes noise with chain when new but
after extended usage it goes away. Recommend changing the chain at same time.
Product was a good price but it took 10 days under free shipping.

Was looking for 7-speed cassette, really wanted something higher-end like HG-70 version, but the HG-50 was all I could find. HG-50 cassette is OK, it is what would have been speced on lower end components. I found a SRAM 7-speed which I am now using, I think it is higher quality than the HG-50.

This particular 7-speed cassette, along with a spacer, is perfect on my 8-speed wheel for the particular trails I ride. In order to use the spacer, you have to grind off the backside of the pins so that the cassette is flush to the spacer. If you already have a 7-speed wheel, it's already perfect for mountain terrain.

This is a the quality I have come to expect from Shimano sturdy, and reliable components. The range of the cogs is great for a demanding range of urban and cross-country terrain.
