Shimano Quality BB,

This review is from: Shimano 105 Octalink V1 Bicycle Bottom Bracket - BB-5500 (Misc.)
The Shimano 105 BB5500 mounted quickly and without fuss on my Bike Friday Pocket Rocket as part of upgrading the bike to a 3 chainring crank set up. I stayed with "all 105" components because that's what the bike came with from its "hand-built home" in Eugene OR. The fit (like everything on a Bike Friday) was flawless. The light weight of the components added approximately zero oz. from the 18 to 27 speed upgrade. My late-model 105 "Flight Deck" compatible shifters handled the 3-ring cranks perfectly with help from a deeper 105 front derailleur and the wider BB.
Result: at minimal cost I've got significantly more friendly hill gearing without giving up much usable top end. (I dropped from a 60-48T to a 54-42-30T. And c'mon: a 60T may be macho, but it's certainly not real! I'll get the most of the top end back when I lace up the 9-26 Capreo rear hub & cassette but for now the 54-11 is fine!)

Direct replacement for what I had. Very easy to swap out and it does what it is designed to do. Buy it.
