I use these for spin class,

There are 2 types of shimano SPD cleats. These and the SH56 (a big "M" written on them). They will both work with the Shimano SPD clip. The difference, so I am told, is that the SH56 (not this one) is an easy release - which, as I understand it, is useful if you are afraid your going to wreck and you don't want your feet stuck in the pedals. These are not the easy release and are therefore useful for things like spin class where there is (hopefully) no chance of you falling over. I have purchased and reviewed both types (see my review on the SH56 page). I have used both on a Schwinn spin cycle fine. I think that these are a little tighter (important on heavy standing hill climbs) and I would recommend them for spinning. I hope this helps. (I have no idea why bike cleats have to be so complicated)

Does the job, can't go wrong with Shimano,

It is what it is, does the job, easy to use. These were my first clip in cleats, simple to use. It took me about 10 minutes to get used to my feet being clipped in. Noticable power increase. Highly recommended.

Excelent cleats, better than multi release for mountain biking,
By
This review is from: Shimano SPD Cleats (Sports)
I bought these cleats to replace the silver multi-release ones that came with my pedals. These cleats have been much better- they hold on tighter, and do not wobble like the multi ones did. They may be a little tougher to get out, but not enough so that I've noticed a big difference. They just feel much more secure, and they don't pop out when lifting on the pedals or bunny hopping, as the multi ones sometimes did.
My suggestion would be to go for these if you're mountain biking and need solid stability with your cleats. If you're road biking, the multi ones might be nice because they seem to be a little more forgiving with releases, but they don't feel as secure when standing, etc.

This review isn't so much about the SPD cleats as I'm sure they work fine. It's one star because amazon is not shipping the item shown on their product page.
The product page shows the SPD Cleat set including the Nut Plate, but Amazon is shipping the cleats without the nut plates. Just be aware that you will not receive the nut plates if you order the item on this page.

I ordered this product on December 31, 2011. I ordered this product because it stated that the foot plate came with this set. I paid for one day shipping, it arrived three days later. I emailed Amazon and they were more than willing to refund the one day shipping. The cleat set that I received was not what was pictured....no cleat nut. I went online and chatted with a help specialist, who stated that he would be more than willing to send me out the right product right away. I told him that I wanted to make sure that I received the right product. He assured me that I would be getting the the complete set with cleat nut. He even sent it out 1 day shipping for me. Now this is 4 days of spin class that I have missed because of this. I received my package promptly.....no cleat nut. This is ridiculous. I made a point to tell him that I was worried about getting the wrong package. Do not buy this product, make sure you buy it somewhere else. I live on an island and now I have to pay to go off and buy the right kind. What a waste of time and money.

I have only been using these cleats for a short time and they work as designed and described. This it my first time using cleats and clip-less pedals and I love it. The Cleats snap-in and out smoothly
