Shimano ST-EF50 Acera EZ Fire Plus Shift and Brake Lever 7 Speed Set, Silver, Canti Low end Shimano product, good construction, nicely finished. Installation is easy, but SIS adjustments are somewhat difficult. Instructions provided are detailed but sometimes confusing. All in all a suitable replacement at a good price.
This product is not intended for trail abuse, but for around town riding it does the job and does it well.

I had to replace my girlfriend's shifters. I was told I could fix the old one's by soaking them in warm water, but didn't want to bother. For the price it was worth it to me just to replace the old ones. They shift well and do what they are supposed to. There isn't much more I can say about them. They came will new cabals and cabal housing. What more can you ask for for the price??

I have had these shifters as a replacement on my Trek 850 ,for about a month now. no problems ,no suprises.the front shifter is for a 3 sprocket and the rear is 7.you really don't have alot of choices for a 3x7 shift/brake combo and i think these are about the best you'll find and the prices is great! good for town and trail riding but not "real" off-roading.the units seem to be what you would find on a midpriced hybrid bike. I'm happy with them.

Look good, work well and were very well priced. No issues so far. These replaced an ancient pair of shifters/brakes on my mountainbike. These new levers shift smooth. Cannot beat the price.

I used this shifter/brake set on a couple of low end bikes I rebuilt and upgraded
(I have 5 bikes). These shifters are great for a casual rider, commuter, or a kids bike. Pair them with a Shimano LX rear derailleur and you won't believe the results. This shifter/brake set is durable, well made, holds its adjustment, easy to adjust, and operates smoothly. They are NOT designed for extreme use(XC, downhill, freeride, ect) so don't expect them to perform like a SRAM XO or Shimano XTR) If you are looking to upgrade a low end bike (a bike under $500)then these are the ticket. Bonus: you also get the cables and housings- what a deal!!!!!

This is a 21 speed (7 X 3) shifter combo. I must say I am impressed with these, I've only owned these for a couple days but there awesome. comes in the mail fast and comes with housing and tension cables. Nice little package. Once adjusted, shifts smoothly. I love Shimano products. I changed my gripshifters to these new ones. I used these on my 26 inch 21 speed Schwinn sidewinder from walmart, only paid $160 for the bike, its a real good bike.

I haven't installed mine yet because I am still waiting for my Park tools to arrive. However, I looked over the product, and it comes with cables, cable sleeves, and it has an adjustment setting to make it compatible with either cantilever or v-brakes. There a detailed instructions inside the package too. The product looks great, and based upon the other reviews, I do not expect any installation issues.

Update (2/9/11): I have installed this on my daughter's 1998 Raleigh M30 bike. It works great as the shift action is smooth with the bike's original Shimano Acera X deraileur system. Brakes hit hard with the new Shimano Acera V-brakes I installed for the front and back wheels.

Installation was a breeze. Came with Shimano cables and housings which alone was worth the price. Perfect shifting.

Though the product doesn't mention, it shipped along with all the wire-cables and the housing cables. It was fairly easy to put them on the bike and has been working great in the last week. Maybe I will come back and add additional comments after I get to use them for a month or more
