Good, basic 7-speed cassette. No frills, good quality, no random machining burrs or anything. I gave four stars just because it is an entry level part. Surprisingly light weight for a lower end bicycle part. Shifted well once installed. Item was new in box.

A little on the heavy side but over 1000 miles on 2 of them and holding up great, good shifting and little wear.

Typical Shimano quality part. Nothing super fantastic, but it works great. If you have an older bike, be prepared to have to do a little fanangaling. I had to use the spacer from my old cassette to make this one fit on my 1990 mtb, but after that it's been working perfectly.

I replaced my uselessly narrow 13-21 cassette with this and couldn't be happier. I don't even need the big ring any more. Works with a 105 7 speed derailleur with some b screw adjustment. Needed a 1mm spacer to fit on my 105 hub as the 11t cog and lockring was flush before pressing the cassette all the way in.

Nothing wrong with this cassette, but you want to make sure its compatable with your derailer and shifter/crankset, best thing to do is buy a (shifter/derailer/crankset/cassete) then order the recommended other components.:)

I bought this cassette and the Fh-Rm30 freehub to replace the 14-28t freewheel setup on my mountain bike. The Fh-Rm30 freehub is actually an 8spd hub but accepts the 7spd cassette with a 4.5mm spacer.I don't think there is even a 7spd specific freehub available.
The problem with all this is that the cassette has three small rivets on the back that rest against the spacer. Two problems with this: 1. Since the rivets rest on the spacer as opposed to the cassette itself it adds about another millimeter to the actual spaced width. It doesn't seem to hinder performance though. 2. Since the rivets rest on the spacer then it means that pressure is not applied consistently around the spacer but in three or four small spots. The spacer is just aluminum while I imagine the rivets are steel. The cogs are steel so it stands to reason. My guess is that the rivets are very quickly going to wear the contact areas down and the whole works will become loose. It remains to be seen how much trouble this will cause. Probably not much, but poor design is poor design. NOW, the good stuff. 1. It is much lighter than the stock freewheel assembly. The freehub and cassette combined weigh a little less than the stock freewheel alone.Add in the stock hub and the weigh savings is tremendous. 2. Shifting performance is much smoother and quieter than the factory freewheel. 3. There is a significant increase in road speed with this 11-28t cassette vs. the factory 14-28t freewheel, which is the reason I installed it. Other than the two issues I pointed out I am very satisfied with the product and neither of them may amount to anything. I'd have still purchased this even if I had known of the above two issues.

but....SRAM compatability issues? Read review,

I put this on my old mt. bike which I had retrofitted with SRAM 7 speed twist grip shifters. I have trouble getting concise shifts across the gear range. I suspect it's a compatability issue or quality with the SRAM shifters but I haven't taken the time to put Shimano shifters back on my mt. bike to compare. The quality of the cassette seems fine though. I'm posting this FYI.
I've ordered 5 or 6 items from Niagara Cycle works before and have been happy with their mail order system. Paopaopaddler in California

Only been using this cassette for a few weeks now but it is infinitely better than the old worn out teeth on my old freewheel. Switched to a back freehub compatible with cassettes for ease of changing and the 11 tooth gear that doesn't seem to come on the oldstyle freewheel my bike used to use. Just upgraded a lot of stuff on the old frame and this works fine, just needed the 4.5mm spacer to fit it on. Not really sure why other cassettes are so much money, probably better materials I guess, but this one works fine for myself as the casual commuting biker.
