This is a really good reel. It is the first spinning reel I have ever used and after about 15 tries I was fishing with it as well as any of the closed face reels. It has very smooth operation and I think its very quiet although a friend of mine that fishes a lot says other reels are much quieter. My only complaint is that physically this reel is very large. I didn't realize how large it would be so big but I'm told that the 4000 series are all large reels so I'm really just showing my ignorance of fishing reels! For the price though, this reel simply cannot be beaten at all.

If you enjoy throwing some line around in a creek or pond this is the reel you need. It is great quality, cheap price, and dependable.

Love the quick fire. The reel is smooth and powerful. This is my second 4000. Still using the old one but the quick fire broke after 6 years of frequent use, 3 to 4 times per month year round. Stll an excellent reel but the new one with the quick fire is preferable.
