Bought this reel for Walleye fishing in Northern Minnesota. Glad I purchased it in a larger diameter spool.(8lb diameter fireline, 30lb test). Extremely smooth reel, no wobble, very easy and fast drag tuning. I love the sidestab style casting face which allows for fast, easy casting. Also a great feature is the automatic reposition of the casting trigger so your not messing around w/your rig and leader.

This is a great reel, its inexpensive, and perfect for bass/walleye fishing. I loved it... until this little pin inside the reel broke. Now the reel spins freely and its completely unusable. Shimano was no help, so because a little pin broke on the interior of the reel, which is literally a 2cent metal part, the reel is completely broken.

If this didnt break so easily, then I would have given this 5 stars. Maybe im just unlucky. Maybe the reel is bad quality, but take my review how you want.

I have used a Spirex 4000 for many years. It has never
failed me when used on fish as large as King Salmon.
If you want a reel that is going to give you a long
time of service,This is the one.
For the price it is a "REEL" Bargain.!!

After dealing with a few crappy(not crappie) reels, this is a welcome surprise. Have not had any issues with it at all, and it is really smooth. Casts far, reels in good. Really like the quickfire cast and the drag adjust lever in the back for quick adjustment while reeling in.

This is the first rear adjust drag spinning reel I have owned, and I love it. I have the RG1000 and it is great for Trout fishing. I love the look and feel of it, it balances great, and is incredibly smooth. Best of all, the casting trigger positions itself automatically so you never have to take your left hand off the retrieve handle. I miss the casting trigger when I use a spinning reel without it now.

The retrieve is damn quick; I have to intentionally slow down sometimes with lighter spinning lures.

Thanks to Dyna-Balance, this reel has the smoothest retrieve of any reel, period. The minute you give it a spin, you'll be glad you ordered it. I really prefer this rear drag model over the front drag, and it has a bonus fighting drag, but I keep forgetting about that and haven't tested it out yet with a fish on. It casts really great and you can't beat the one-handed casting with the Quick-Fire trigger. In fact, I won't buy a reel without it. My old Shimano FX was ready for an upgrade and I tried to buy local; checked 4 stores including my local Cabela's before I ordered off Amazon. I tossed in Berkeley 8 pound lo-vis green with the same order, which arrived on time with free shipping. I even took it to work with me for show and tell with my buddies and they all wanted to know more about it. I'm very pleased with my order and next time I need a good reel will save the gas. :)
