At first i thought ultra light Voltaeus was too whippy, but after combining it with a light whight shimano reel I was surprised how evenly it felt. My prize catch with this set-up is a 68cm 5.6kg Australia Salmon, which took 15min to land.

This rod was a little lighter than what I imagined would arrive, but that's my fault. The quality is very high and it's very strong. Perfectly matched with probably a 40 sized reel. Very happy with this rod.

I own two of these rods. The first one was purchased in 2010, and I liked it so much I decided to purchase second one just few days ago. 2011 model has a slightly different handle and smaller guides, but other than that they are identical. Below are some PROS and CONS of this model:

PROS:

- Extremely light

- Perfect flexibility/plasticity for float fishing and spinning

- Available in different lengths (I like 6'6'' or 7'' 2pc sets)

- Comfortable bamboo handle

- Affordable (2011 model was on sale in Sports Authority for $29.99 + Shimano is offering a rebate for $20 if you purchase it by July 4, 2011). You can't go wrong with quality rod for $9.99 after all rebates/promotions. 2010 model cost me about $50 in Cabela's last year.

- Works nicely with medium size good quality reels (this rod is good and cheap but good reels start around $50-$60 and can go up to few hundred $)



CONS:

- Nothing negative found yet.
