Get a Reality Check, This ain't no Reality Check ;-D,
By Philip George (League City, Texas United States) - See all my reviews

When Reality Check first came out, I thought that these guys were fantastic. There music was unique in that it blended Christian themes with grunge, Rap, rock, and ballads. When I heard that they broke up, I was disappointed. When I heard that Nathan and Johnny were coming out with a new band, I was excited. I half expected to hear Reality Check without the rap. Boy, was I ever wrong. They went off on a totally different direction musically. To be honest, that slightly disappointed me and so on first listen, I was kind of negative to it. But I decided to give them a fair chance and bought the album and listened to it on a 4 hour drive. I LIKE IT! This is fresh, this is cool, this album rocks. Emotionally takes you from one extreme to another. Explores several issues well ( like idol worship, longing to be closer to God, forgivenenss, etc. ). Vocals are excellent. I can't say enough about this album. If you want something new and fresh, look no further. Jump on the Luna Halo train people!

The best Brit-Pop band from America!,
By Sky Parker (City of Angels, CA.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shimmer (Audio CD)
Every once in a while you hear an album that not only gets your attention, but knocks you off your feet! Such is the case with Luna Halo's debut "Shimmer". If you like musical and lyrical depth in your bands, this is the one for you. "Shimmer", is a perfect blend of guitar driven rock, atmospheric pop melodies, and angelic orchestral arrangements that no doubt, will leave you wanting more. It's what would happen if members of Radiohead, U2, and Crowded House formed a band. Unbelievable musicianship can be heard on songs like "Complacent", and "Aliens", while near perfect songwriting is showcased on "Superman", and "Carry Me". Sonically, the album surrounds you while the lyrics speak to your heart, without getting "preachy". Nothing I can say in this review can do justice to the masterpiece that Luna Halo has delivered. The scary thing is...this is just their first try!

WOW-This CD ROCKS!,

I can't believe how good this CD is. When I first listened to it I was amazed at how good EVERY SONG was! The band spent almost a year on this album and the xtra time was definitely worth it. This CD ranges from edgy rock to pop to spanish-type rock. Every song has a great hook to it and you will keep this in your player for weeks to come. If you liked Reality Check, you will absolutely love Luna Halo and their debut CD Shimmer.

Quality Music,
By "afish01" (Beaman, IA USA) - See all my reviews

The quality of this music is amazing! Not only does the lead singer have an impressive vocal range, he is always right on. Though technically all the songs all perfect (no missed notes, distortion, etc.) they also have an incredible amount of artistic skill. This is one of those CDs that, the more you listen to it, the more you want to. The songs just get stuck in your head. Some are more guitar-driven and somewhat heavy, others are worshipful and smooth. There isn't a song on this CD I don't like. My favorites are 3, 5 and 7. If you want a Christian band that you won't be afraid to play around non-Christian friends, this is it!

Drive by,

Need an album to drive with on a road trip? Turn here! Need an album to play at a party or a youth service that will definitely turn heads, and get people in the mood... turn here!!I loved the band PFR, and some of the harder christian bands out there. The guys of Luna Halo are on that track. "Heaven" when I first heard it... I thought PFR was born over again. The vocals are remisicent of PFR, but have their own style. Its nice to see a rock band where the lead singer CAN sing, which you don't find much anymore. Get this album folks! The poetry itself will get your ears! Superman is perhaps the most definitive song for this band. Listen to it at: lunahalo.com

Luna Halo is awesome, and that's just putting it lightly,

Luna Halo is one of my ultimate favorite artists of all time. When I first heard Superman on Air1 radio, I thought it was pretty cool. Then at one time, I went this one guy's house, he had Sky Angel, and I saw the video for Superman. I think Luna Halo is one of the awesomest bands ever. I totally recommend this cd to anyone who likes rock style music. I want to play their songs on the bass, but I still need to learn how to pick up the bass sounds more so I know how to identify the bass chords.

A soulful rocking composition... with a vague intention,
This review is from: Shimmer (Audio CD)
I first learned of the band Luna Halo when their single Hang On To You aired on our local Christian radio station. After listening to the CD briefly in store, I bought it. The CD is 12 tracks of solid pop rock with some amazing vocals and effects. After listening for a while a reading the cover slip I found the lyrics lacked much of the spiritual grunt that definitely comes through in the music. Hang On To You is one of my favourite tracks, but I was a little disappointed to find it was a originally Delirious song from thier Glo album with lyrics by Martin Smith. Although Delirious is by far one of the world's top Christian bands, after listening to D's origional version, I was very impressed at how Luna Halo polished up and improved on the song. Other good tracks are there aswell and the lyrics do have a Christian feel - but it's indirect and not blatant. Thus you can probably get non-Christians hooked on this pretty easily. Superman is a great song, as is Forgiveness, Heaven and The Way To Your Heart. These songs could very much become hits on secular radio but as yet I haven't heard any. I recommend Luna Halo to fans of rock and pop. It's a fantastic blend of guitars, drums, bass and electronic effects. I can really feel the blessing in their music and I think you will too.

Great CD!,

My youth group has this cd and I borrowed it one night and I discovered that the lead singer was a singer in the band Reality Check. This Singer Nathan has a really good voice and a good band that plays really good songs. They sing of their faith in God and really do a good job on the music. I like all the songs on this cd and I can't stop playing the song Heaven over and over. There's this really cool Bridge part in this song that gets stuck in my head. The other songs has great tunes and you would like this cd alot if you are a rock fan. Get This cd!

I just got this CD yesterday, and, although I have only listened to a few songs, I am beginning to love it. I especially like "Alien." It reminded me a little of Bush, which is one of my favorite bands, so that was a nice bonus with the CD.This CD would be great for fans of Christian rock music or those looking for bands that sound like mainstream rock. I definitely recommend it.

it's suprisingly good,
By DJ Dew (Pompano Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews

I didn't expect much out of this, but when I listened to it, it turned out to be a really good modern rock record. There's plenty of guitar and keyboard effects to make it sound out-of-this-world and lots of great melodies and good ol' rock to make it accessible. My favourite tracks are "Superman" and "Running Away", but every track is good; no duds at all. Along with many others, I saw these guys with Jars of Clay and Jenn Knapp and they were alot better in a live show. When you're already really familiar with the record, after hearing the songs live you get a real treat. I'd recommend this to just about any rock fan, the Christian rock fans will enjoy this even more because of the uplifting lyrics.
