5.0 out of 5 stars History and Spirit of Karate, April 11, 2000

This review is from: Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate (Tsunami) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video gives an excellent overview of the founding of modern karate. It traces the common thread shared by the most popular current traditional styles. It reflects a great deal of research and places today's study of karate in its proper historical perspective. The inclusion of kata as demonstrated by Konishi Sensei is a rare treat. An equally well-done and infomative video can be found in the second volume, Ryobu-kai and Shotokan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate, June 2, 2001
This review is from: Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate (Tsunami) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A video of one of Japan's national treasures Yasuhiro Konishi. I have the opportunity of studying with one the last students of Konishi sensei and this Video is a great reference especially to an instructor or practitioner of Aikido and Karate. A definite must have for any one interested in the martial arts.

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality and superb information!, April 25, 1999

This review is from: Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate (Tsunami) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video does an excellent job of discussing a chapter of Karate history that has not been covered in the past. Tsunami Productions does a first-rate, top notch job in production quality and information. Not to mention the excellent job of demonstrating kata and their applications done by Takehiro Konishi, the son of the founder of Shindo Jinen Ryu. Students of Japanese Karate should own and study this video!

5.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Japanese Karate Without Politics, April 11, 2000

This video is a well documented history of traditionl Japanese karate. It takes the viewer back in time to explain how Sensei Yasuhiro Konishi's friendship with Choki Motobu and Ginchin Funakoshi played an important role in the development of Traditional Japanese karate.

The technical aspect of the video is an essential part for all karatekas who wish to understand the finer points of kata as demonstrated by the Masters.
