4.0 out of 5 stars shine, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Shine: 5 Principles for a Rewarding Life (Paperback)
Good book about how we are called to shine-to live in such a way that others would see Christ's character radiating in us to the glory of God the Father. When Christ shines in us, we represent His Kingdom on earth.
Recommend to all Christians that want to shine for Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book for daily life and life @ work, February 14, 2008
This review is from: Shine: 5 Principles for a Rewarding Life (Paperback)
3 reasons why this book is important to read:
1 - because we were made to shine. Jesus said in Matthew 5 that it's through our God-saltiness and our God-brightness in daily life that people see this gracious and loving God who wants to shine in and through us. It's what we were made for. It's how God is know.

2- because Kris calls us to beyond-self living, and it's only when we live beyond ourselves that life works, that we are empowered and in-powered for living.

3 - because being the church is an all 168 hours of the week thing, and Kris challenges us to that kind of living and that kind of loving and that kind of leading.

Check it out and pass it along to the people that you listen to and lead in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Life...Where Christianity Meets the Loading Dock, July 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shine: 5 Principles for a Rewarding Life (Paperback)

This book was recommended to me by a fellow business owner on the Business As Mission forum. I don't usually buy books on a recommendation from someone I don't know, but Jack said this book litterally turned around his entire perspective toward his business. The author, who owns a Florida business, reveals much of his passive Christianity for the reader in not seeing results in both his personal and business life. Then, through God's grace, he developed an individual and company 'formula' that changed everything. That formula became the S.H.I.N.E. principle that turned my new friend Jack's business and personal life around. It could even be a group-study book--if there is enough stock left in captivity. Also, don't allow the 2008
copyright to disuade you. It's as evergreen useful today and tomorrow as it was when it first came off the press.

This is a wonderful book with a great message based on Christian principles. It has re-shaped my thinking on the true priorities of business and on life in general. A very simple read that I plan to revisit regularly for a boost of encouragement. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your work is your ministry, June 12, 2008
This review is from: Shine: 5 Principles for a Rewarding Life (Paperback)
SHINE articulates a framework for transforming your work into your God-given ministry. The book speaks powerfully to entrepreneurs who may have been leading their companies in a secular, yet "businesslike" manner. SHINE provides an excellent reminder of the qualities which employees and customers really seek the most in a business leader, regardless of their individual faith. This isn't your typical "steps to success" book, but it really is... starting with defining the true and enduring meaning of success. A simple but great question posed for entrepreneurs embarking on a venture is, "If I realize this dream, will God be glorified?" I thoroughly enjoyed SHINE and I expect to refer back to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHINE, April 12, 2008
This review is from: Shine: 5 Principles for a Rewarding Life (Paperback)
I have read a few business books written by Christian individuals, but SHINE is different from others I have read. In SHINE, Kris shows in very practical ways how you can shine as a Christian (in your workplace in particular, but it also applies to any other area of your life). I love how he integrates the numerous Bible references into real-life examples in the workplace. Kris shares personal stories and examples and I appreciate his candor with his audience. SHINE is an easy-to-read, practical book with clear life application examples. I highly recommend it and I trust that it will challenge you and spur you on to a more rewarding life!
