This is a solid record from beginning to end---the songs are well wriiten--Chris has a powerful emotive voice --the production totally works to the advantage of the songs and Chris's vocals---i cant say that about a lot of records these days---if you like singer/songwriter mainstream pop/folk/rock this will be one of the better records you can spend your money on...check it out!

Chris Chickering is a new artist who is clearly making a strong bid for greatness. Chickering's voice in his debut album Shine surges forward in a sound of epiphany and revelation; he refuses to hold back. His voice, especially in the song "Reinvent Yourself" hits you right in the solar plexus and keeps on rippling through your system until you feel utterly revitalized. His music with its hip, swinging lines augmented with the patinas of his unfettered bluesy vocals, struts across new sonic terrain in songs like "Flying Over Rainbows" that both settles and mystifies like a strong Kentucky bourbon. If you're in the mood for a nod to the classic soloist Cat Steven's you will find it in Chris's evocative "Father and Son" cover that would easily earn smiling approvals from the former. "Have a little faith today" with its steady beat and imploring lyrics begins to show the burgeoning maturity and confidence that remains evident in this first promising release of Chickering's. We can only hope that more is to come.

This release by Chris Chickering is heartfelt and uplifting! The title track, "Shine" is catchy and his version of "Father and Son" is a great new version of a classic. Chris's music is classic and timeless and will be enjoyed by anyone who likes folk-rock, singer songwriter style of music. It is fresh yet reminescent of classic 70's artists.

A soulful tribute to a life's journey. Honost, moving and memorable. It carries a resemblance to Cat Stevens. I highly recommend it.
