Awesome CD!,

This review is from: Shine: The Complete Classics (Audio CD)
When I first saw the movie "Shine", I knew I had to get the soundtrack right away. When I got to the store, I was hoping that the soundtrack will include the complete list of all the songS. Many times, I get disapointed when I buy soundtracks (espeically classical music) because they tend to include only the part that they used in the movie. But when I saw this CD, I knew this was IT!!! And when I listened to it, it was even better than I expected. I love classical music and a lot of times, I am very disappointed by the presentation of the music in many CDs. It seems as if they hired someone who barely understand the piece to play the song. But from the first song you hear, you know this CD isn't that case. You can "feel" every song. Every time I listen to this CD, I get emotional. If you love classical music, I guarantee that you will love this CD. MUST HAVE!!

This is a wonderful collection of classical music. Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin pieces are featured with such an artistic interpretation. Notwithstanding the cut made in movement 3, Rafael Orozco's version of Rach3 touches your soul. And this is coming from a Vladimir Horowitz fan, and a pianist!

Just a grand selection of classical music, very fitting and complementary to this this marvelous film. The Rach III is exceptional; it really allows you to appreciate the struggle Helfgott endured as a child, as well as a young adult. A very complete collection compared to the actul movie soundtrack. Well worth buying!

An Inspirational CD for an Inspirational Movie!,

The movie for this CD actually played a large part in my decision to become a serious pianist! The CD itself portrays all the pieces used in the movie wonderfully with the top recordings by the most talented artists. The Rachmaninov piano concerto no.3 is extremely exciting to listen to. If you enjoy exciting and romantic classical music, then this is the CD for you!

What can I say; anyone who listens to this CD will be totally blown away by the talented artists infused within the perfectly performed classics included here that were sorely missed in the first recording of Shine! Thus the title, The Complete Classics, is so appropriate because they are indeed complete and great to listen to down to the very last note! However, there is one thing that didn't quite do it for me that bears mentioning here that I thought could have been left alone and/or at least included in this second version; and that is the last Aria that was sung by someone other than the original soprano. Although it was flawlessly and beautifully sung in this recording, I was a little disappointed because in the movie, as well as in the original recording, the soprano who sang this Aria had a much lighter, almost childlike sound to her voice---an innocent quality to it, if you will---which added a nice contrast to the heavy and very dramatically charged piano music that dominated throughout the original soundtrack as well as the heavy theme that dominated the movie, gently pulling the listener back from the "darkness" into the "light" again. Because of this, in my opinion, I actually think the original soprano chosen to sing the Vivaldi Motet "Nulla In Mundo Pax" in the first recorded version as well as in the movie would have been a better choice to sort of round out this collection of classical music. But overall, I absolutely stand behind the rating I gave to it as this fine effort is masterful and without question deserving of all 5 stars, and through it I look forward to enjoying many hours of listening pleasure to come!

This is the great CD. I didnt expect two CDs. That is the full length of those wonderful pieces. I bought the original sound track before I got this and disappointed little because I wanted to hear more of each music. If you loved the music from the movie, you will enjoy listening those music pieces in full length.
