5.0 out of 5 stars Max shines through
Max rules. Thats the bottom line here I mean just listen to the way this CD opens... my god! Piece process is awesome, and the Inkfish Remix of Trauma by Medway is superb.

What really sets him apart from others (in my opinion of course) is Max's ability to make bass lines the smoothest things you've ever heard. It's all about the bass line with this guy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Average at best
Supposedly Max has been working on this CD for god knows how long now. It is average at best.

I know he's a good DJ, I've heard him play in clubs numerous times, but this CD wasn't all that.

There are some good sounds on this techno CD but there's also an unmistakable sameness from one song to the next. I read a favorable review of this somewhere and was hoping for more. Just the same, I'm sure enough people would enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars max graham is not john graham, March 9, 2005

good mix. nothing super extraordinary, but nothing went horribly wrong either.

"quivver" is the alias of john graham, a previous member of tilt. max graham compiled transport 4, which is not dark like quivver's transport 5, but progressive (leaning towards trance). i personally liked transport 4 better than this compilation, but no surprises here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Transport, but still shines...., November 13, 2004

Good Album with great track selection, with only about 2 songs that I didn't care for...The best song on this album has to be Buenos Aires, with its steady rolling bass and sparkling synthesizer riffs...Piece Process' songs are just as good, but don't quite match the Sander Kleinenberg sound I've grown to like...I would have loved it if this was a double album, but still no complaints nonetheless...A must have for progressive fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Done!, February 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Shine (Audio CD)
This latest compilation by Max Graham is a blend of hard house, progressive, and contains hints of techno throughtout the mix. Mr. Graham starts things off pretty uptempo with "Solar Myth" by Piece Process which blends into the next few tracks that have a similar feel but keeps you interseted with great mixing and rumbling basslines.

The compilation takes a slight turn beginning with "Bueno Aires" by Sander Kleinenberg. This track is "light" and from this point on the mix starts to have a soothing progressive feel to it but with tons of energy which is Max Graham all the way. The last track "Tennis" by Junkie XL is superb. It's a melancholy track that makes you feel a little dissapointed that the set is approaching its inevitable end.

This mix is very good for what it is suppsosed to be. The winding hours of an extended dj set. This cd is pretty bangin' though and I would definitely recommend playing this at high volume in the car before you set out for a party or club-night.

I only wish that he had made a two cd set. One cd makes the mix feel a little rushed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shine is Sublime, January 31, 2004
This review is from: Shine (Audio CD)
Fans worldwide have been waiting for the follow-up to Max's Transport 4 CD. The wait was well worth it and this CD definitely "Shines" in the spotlight. Once again, as with Transport 4, 11 seems to be Max's favorite number as Shine features 11 perfectly mixed tracks including artists such as Piece Process, Sander Kleinenberg and Junkie XL. Unlike Transport 4, Shine is limited to one disk but this is a limit easily bridges through perfect track selection that will leave you with a smile on your face. Some of the memorable tracks on this CD include Solar Myth by Piece Process (perfect start to the CD) along with Afterburner-Madoka and Tennis by Junkie XL, the perfect ender to this compilation. Those familiar with Max Graham know that he pours his heart into his music and this CD is a perfect example. For those unfamiliar with MG this CD will open your eyes to a great DJ/producer primed to blow up on the worldwide stage. Watch out John Digweed...Max Graham is right on your heels!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of 2004, December 2, 2004
By
This review is from: Shine (Audio CD)
Having bought this when it came out and hearing just about everything else for the rest of the year. I have to say this was the best progressive CD of 2004. I don't know what's wrong with all the other DJs but Max Graham has it down and doesn't disappoint. The only disappointment is the single disc and wanting more. This CD is relentless with flawless mixing and awesome tracks, with the exception of tracks 1 and 5. Although track 1 has a good beat, I just don't like remixes of 80s songs, and I think its got a New Order tune in it or something. And track 5 would be awesome if it wasn't for the annoying singing, remove the vocals and it would be a great track with a phat bassline. Although not perfection, Shine is the best thing that's out there for 2004. I'll definitely be waiting for his next CD, hopefully soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kick Ass!, November 19, 2004
This review is from: Shine (Audio CD)
Anyone giving this CD poor ratings is just smoking too much pot to know whats good. Perhaps they like salsa better or some disco house. This CD just kicks ass all the way through! Despite being just a single disc this CD is solid with nonstop beats bordering the lines of tech and progressive. In a time when most DJs are just playing crap, and i mean CRAP!(not mentioning any names except that some are GU djs and similar), Max SHINES through. His sets are always solid and doesn't let down and this is no exception. I'd rather have one disc of solid track than 2 discs of crap! Max is way underated. His style is one of his own and he's consistently droppin phat beats. If djs are going to come out with CDs these days it better be hella good and Max delivers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better..., February 18, 2004
This review is from: Shine (Audio CD)
If you compare this CD with Transport 4, you might be a little disappointed because it's not as progressive or intense. But if you listen to this mix on its own, you will enjoy it quit a bit. This CD starts off with a disco feel to it, which is similar to Pete Tong's Essential Mix works, which is not my cup of tea but it picks up soon after that. Before you know it though, the CD winds down and leaves you wanting a little bit more. I would have liked a 2-CD set. Overall, not bad... uptempo and energetic for the most part...then it's over before you know it. Darn!
