I was very fortunate to have read an advance copy of SHINE. Larry Thompson's heartfelt and engaging book reveals how Talent, Rage, Team, and Luck are the keys to ultimate success. Personal and exclusive celebrity stories accompanied by easy-to-follow exercises make the book entertaining as well as instructive. No matter what your profession or desire, Thompson shows you how to be the best - how to be a STAR - at anything you do.

During and after reading SHINE by Larry Thompson I felt a wave of hope. It was both comforting and empowering to realize that with determination and by doing the things that are suggested in the book I could accomplish my goals. By reading about people whom I respect and how they attained their stardom - I was inspired. Larry breaks it down into simple categories where you can determine your own strengths or weaknesses and what you need to do to improve. Another aspect of the book that I liked was the author's heartfelt approach. It made me feel like he cared and that his advice was what I needed to hear.

The information in this book is great for helping you determine what to do with your life, and how to achieve your goals. The exercises inside are great, and on the whole the book is very informative, interesting, and well-written.

However, I found some of the frequent "name-dropping" to be a bit annoying. There were times when the mini-stories about his experiences with certain celebrities were entertaining and contributed to the points he was trying to get across. There were other times, however, I felt like I was trudging through the book as he tried to spout off as many celebrity names as possible. Yes, he works with celebrities. Yes, he's made people famous. Some of the tales could have been left out. The book would have been just fine with a few less stories, and Mr Thompson would have come across as a lot less braggy.

I recently saw Larry Thompson on the Dr. Phil show, and heard there about Larry's book SHINE!

I was MOVED up the stairs, dialed in to the internet, got to amazon.com and purchased the book. Then found his website, www.ProjectRiseandShine.com.

When the book arrived I immediately sat down and started. I was riveted. It is a great book, very motivational, empowering.

Larry's words and passion for what he is trying to do to help others, motivated me to do the work pages. It made me think about my life, the things I have done and accomplished. Some of the exercises made a profound impact on me...made me aware of some of the really good things I have accomplished, helped me realize more of who I am.

No matter who you are or what you do in life,you will do yourself a favor by reading SHINE and doing the exercises. You will be better for it.

Larry Thompson exuded so much down to earth warmth and attentiveness on the Dr. Phil Show! I was so intrigued immediately by the title of his book SHINE: A Powerful 4-Step Plan for Becoming a Star in Anything You Do. I had to buy the book. I keep the dated receipt of my purchase to remind me of my goals for "stardom". My new mantra is "find and fulfill your destiny!"

I ended up rereading SHINE before writing what you're reading now, and was able to pick up even more information. I highly recommend reading the book at least twice so as not to miss out on any gems of insight, and the book contains many. As a consummate reader of many motivational, self help/healing, and how-to books, I consider SHINE a classic.

Creatively and expertly crafted with the humor and vivid illustrations of a natural storyteller the book is an elaborate roadmap to stardom, celebration of life, career workbook, bio/motivational career and success/spiritual life guide, and entertaining story full of gems and quotable comments and illustrating tools like 100 points of starlight marked.

SHINE is an analytical distillation of the star-making process, of both material success and spiritual success. I especially like how Larry reminds us that we must be selfish (in a positive way) and make time to act on our goals; that greatness begins with humility, and that God is our Team Captain. Amen.

I was excited to read in SHINE that there was actually a support forum on the Project Rise and Shine website, and excitedly joined the Good Luck Club.

I read in Larry's book SHINE about the importance of balancing truthfulness and compassion in assessing contestants, and he really projects these qualities he writes about: sensitivity and kindness.

So many of the self-help books I read don't provide the tools that I can apply TODAY to make a substantial improvement in my career and life. When I finished reading SHINE, not only did I have a solid direction and road map for how I am going to achieve my goals, I had a whole new perspective for how I perceive today's celebrities and their successes. This was a terrific read from start to finish. I'm looking forward for ways to learn more from Larry and his clients.

I just ordered 3 extra copies because I wish to share this book and not loose my original! This is THE IDEAL cornerstone book for persons of any age who wish to "shine".

Why?

1. It is practical, not theoretical

2. He focuses on true values, not just Hollywood values

3. He has a general plan and you fill in the blanks with your unique dreams

4. He admits weaknesses and failures happen and isn't unrealistically positive

5. Basically, He's real.

6. He covers everything succinctly with constructive steps: Values, purpose, attitude, goals, motivation, image, risk, relationships...

7. He has just the right amount of exercises, and they are practical

8. The advice is backed up by fitting Hollywood stories, making the book an easy and fun read

9. It is inspirational but backed up with substance

He says, in brief, this: You grasp your unique talent for which you can have a "rage" for, have teams to help you, and make yourself lucky by actively creating the possibilities for it to occur.

Just for balance, I don't like his word for passion, "rage", due to the negative connotations but he explains it. There are a few errors like calling high school calculus and physics "calculus and psychics".

Even if you have read self-help success books this one sort of brings everything together in one package. If you are a person who wants to "shine" you will not regret the time and money spent on this book.

Larry Thompson so eloquently writes about the importance of being on "the right train" in life. You can work on which "seat" you're going to take later, but you have to be on the right train. I was wandering aimlessly in my career and personal life. I thought my train had left the station long ago without me. I was wrong. My train had been waiting for me the whole time. SHINE got me to the station and on the right train. I'm now on my way to my destiny! Thank you, Larry Thompson.

After reading Larry Thompson's book, you'll believe you can Harness the Power of the Universe! I can't begin to tell you just how enjoyable, thought provoking, motivating and inspired Larry's 230 page Tome really is! It's no wonder he's been the personal advisor and trusted manager of so many Hollywood Stars...

Honestly, I feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and Larry Thompson just opened my eyes revealing that I've actually had my "Ruby Slippers" on all the time! My yellow brick road may still be littered with Flying Monkeys, Wicked Witches, Self-Important Munchkins, Idiotic Advisors, Rusted out Maintenance Men, and Cowardly Champions, but Larry's ingenious 4 step plan for success SHINES like Glenda the Good Witch from the East! So now it's time for me to roll out the Red Carpet on my Yellow Brick road. I'm looking down now at those Ruby Slippers. My heels are tapping with great enthusiasm, and it's my turn to SHINE!
