The funniest anime i have ever seen,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shinesman (DVD)
I saw shinesman about a year ago on a whim and discovered it was hilarious. It is a parody of any power rangers type show and will have you laughing the entire time. Unfourtounatly there are only two episodes and it leaves you begging for more. The english dub amazingly is even funnier than the japansese sub. This is a great show for anyone who wants a laugh.

ROTFLMAO!,

This DVD is a hilarious send-up of the Power-Rangers superhero genre. The plot includes the classic "Evil Forces from another world want to take over Earth", and includes the typical (mostly) incompetent royal leader, the more-competent aide, and of course the cute/naive villaness. On the good side, we have five (of course) people in combat-power suits, color-coded.
Of course, the colors the heroes have chosen are unusual, and a recurring joke throughout the episodes. There is a lot of humor for adults ("I can't die! I have a date with..."), but absolutely nothing objectionable for youngsters. The production quality of this DVD is also sound, and the dubbing works fine. I'm frankly surprised that Cartoon Network hasn't shown this. The ONLY downside to this DVD is that its too short. Only two episodes are available; I doubt more were made by the animators (sigh...)

One of the funniest things I've seen in a while,

Shinesman is a parody of Power Rangers and similar shows. It has the typical team of superheroes keeping the planet safe by fighting monsters sent by the bad guys, but you really start to get a feel for just how silly it is when they introduce themselves: "Shinesman Red!" "Shinesman Moss Green!" "Shinesman Gray!" "Shinesman Sepia!" and "Shinesman Salmon Pink!" How can you NOT like a show with lines like "I can't die now, I have to give my daughter a stuffed fish!" It's really too bad there aren't any more episodes.

Well drawn animation, good dubbing, great coloring, & sarcastic humor in every verse! After my best buds saw it, they made me play it again & ordered their own 'cause I wouldn't let 'em borrow it. My lil' bro. has his OWN copy. It's the PERFECT gift for the Anime Otaku or Humor Fan!

if you are looking for a great time, and want a laugh, this title is for you. The creators took every well known cliche from other anime (and superhero) movies, and did a good parody of them...The visuals are ok, and so are the sounds. The plot is unfinished, but as there are only 2 episodes this can be forgiven. (no, i can't but still worth the 5 stars)

Shinesman, If Only There Were More,
This review is from: Shinesman (DVD)
This show if funny as all get out. It is a brilliant parody of the sentai genre and the idea of corporate sponsored superheroes is such a fresh idea. Shame it was just to promo the manga, hopefully someone with look back on it, realise the gold mine at their feet and ressurect the series.

Shinesman is basicly a spoof on popular Japanese superhero shows. The kind of over the top kids shows that spawned The Power Rangers and such in America. It makes fun of alot of things about that genre without being too ridiculous. It starts out with the main character joining a company which turns out to be a cover for a gang of superheros called the Shinesman. He thinks he's gotten a boring desk job but ends up being hired as their leader and new red team member. Meanwhile an alien prince and his commander are on earth disguised as business men planning to take over the world, but the prince's sister and the Shineman keeps mucking things up. Some of it is kinda funny, especially if you're familiar with the types of shows it's spoofing. However the majority of it isn't all that great and the dvd is too short and leaves you hanging. If you used to watch those type of shows as a kid or if you're feeling nostalgic for japanese superhero's with humor you might want to check it out. Otherwise it might not be your thing.

The Greatest Spoof on Anime: Shinesman,
By Sakkano Imako (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shinesman [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This farce on anime and monster-hero stories is rather amusing. Basically, a company has hired people from various departments to defend the Earth from corporate takeovers from planet Voice. But that's considered classified information...Now this is called a "one shot" anime. It was made to look like a series, but never really was. Which makes it more admirable. The tape contains two episodes which are actually more comedic in English than in Japanese. The dialogue of the series was also intentionally made to sound like an episode from the 80s version of Justice League. The characters will say the most obvious things.. and that's only because this is similar to may other cult classice.. it was made to look like that. So in essence, think of it as the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" of Anime... well.. save that this anime is actually G rated.

I watched this with my school's anime club, and we all just about died laughing! If you like Power Rangers (or hate them) this is a must-see. Admittedly, there wasn't a lot of time for character development, but the storyline is complex enough to make the story intriguing for more sophisticated audiences, and the often slapstick humor and superhero action will make it fun for the kiddies.

It is incredibly funny, and the animation is very good... shinesman red-whatta hottie (he-he) It is a funny parody and after it was over I was dying to own it! I wish they made more!go Moss Green! But anyway. If you want to see a great anime, this is awesome. It will give you a good laugh, and no tears! The characters are kikN' and very funny! rent this, buy this, be this! No matter how much anime you have seen/own this is a great new addition! |
