This short and poignant biography gives the reader some very touching insights into the make-up of this special human being. This biography was part of the Suzukis' fiftieth wedding anniversary observance in 1978. It traces Suzuki's roots back to early childhood, and continues up until the movement caught hold in the United States in the mid-sixties. The philosophical roots of Talent Education are explored, punctuated with charming anecdotes which bring the entire development into sharp focus. One gains insight into the struggles of the early years, and the ever-present Japanese philosophical guidance which spurred Suzuki onward. The title Man of Love could not be more apt, we learn, as we peer through the windows of the gentle, wise and loving soul of Shinichi Suzuki "who lit a great candle of hope for the people of the world." The English-language translation of this work of gratitude was completed in 1984 by Kyoko Selden, who captures the Japanese flavor or aura so well in English.

A good tribute to Suzuki...,

This book was written in commemoration of Shinichi and Waltraud Suzuki's golden wedding anniversary. It provides a fairly good chronology of Suzuki's life and the meaningful events that helped shape his philosophy of Talent Education.It is a good companion to Nurtured by Love by Suzuki. The chronology is clearer, and it provides a few more anecdotes that gives the reader yet more insight into Suzuki's life.
