5.0 out of 5 stars All titles, August 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Shining by the River (Audio CD)
My first experience of Richard Burmer was the song "Turning to You". I have been hooked since. Where does this guy go for so long between albums?? He is such a tease. Those of us who have fallen maddly in love with his music feel so lost when he leaves us for so long.......Even more frustrating is that we know nothing about the man behind the music. Who is this man? What inspires such beauty???? Where is he? Anyway...Richard, please give me some more!

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderfully meditative,peaceful music, April 29, 1999

This review is from: Shining by the River (Audio CD)
Most of Richard Burmer's best works are exhibited in this collection. It is music for the quiet of evening or the stillness before the day starts at dawn. Richard Burmer takes electronic keyboarding to a very acclaimed height. Highly reccomended if you like Enya, Ray Lynch, Patrick Ohearn and Yanni!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best pic's from the beautiful & hard to find Bhakti Point, June 12, 1998
This review is from: Shining by the River (Audio CD)
Hauntingly mellow & yet at times upbeat, this is a best of selection of songs from a premire new age artist. The selections from his first & almost impossible to find first album 'Bhakti Point' is worth the price of this cd alone. Get it while you can, you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Example of the Talents of Richard Burmer, April 23, 2003

This CD proved extremely difficult to obtain, but it's been worth all the effort.

Richard Burmer's music has a style all of its own. Each track in this "Best of" compilation is a joy to listen to and is sure to have your feet tapping to the beat of the catchy melodies.

Particular favourites are tracks 4 (Magellan), 5 (Shining by the river) and 12 (Waking the Icons). Burmer's notes give the listener insight into the performer's thinking as he composed the tracks.

At over 70 minutes in length, the CD is good value with Burmer choosing his personal 13 favourite tracks from his past albums. Good luck in tracking this album down- mine arrived from France; perhaps publishers will see sense and reprint this excellent album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bhakti Point is an incredibly mystical piece., December 7, 1998

This review is from: Shining by the River (Audio CD)
Bhakti Point is one of the most superb 'new age' selections I have ever heard. And I am a hard-to-please, conservative, male senior citizen. I first heard it on "The Wave" in LA in the late 80's and got the cassette. I am getting the CD now, as it is a piece of music I want to keep always. This guy Burmer is superb.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shining by the River, Richard Burmer, June 9, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shining by the River (Audio CD)
Pluses: Excellent composition and sound design. Stands out against the usually droning New Age.
Minuses: Uneven audio quality; unprofessional text on back cover and liner notes; song selection a little same-y.
