4.0 out of 5 stars Acumen Nation + The Clay People = Heavy Guitars, October 21, 2001

Iron Lung Corp is a collaboration between members of Acumen Nation and The Clay People, two like-minded industrial-metal acts. When they meet up in the studio, it is loud. Very loud. Acumen Nation's Jason Novak takes on the bulk of the vocal duties. "Pretty (Like A Porn Star)" and "Crobar America" are two of the best original songs, but it's "Join In The Murderous Chant" that is the real treat here for industrial fans -- it's a medley of Nitzer Ebb's classics "Join In The Chant" and "Murderous". That alone is worth getting this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Iron Lung Corporation is a good industrial cd, June 25, 2000

Big Shiny Spears is a good mix of industrial acts including the singer of Acumen Nation, one of my favorite industrial bands. This CD does use a lot of synths and vocal distortion but also uses heavy guitars giving some of the songs a heavy metal sound. My favorite song on Big Shiny Spears is "Pretty(Like a Porno Star)." It is everything industrial should be, distorted guitars, angry vocals, and synth syth syth! The only thing I didn't like about this CD is that it sounded too much like metal at times. Check out this CD if you like bands like Acumen Nation, KMFDM, or Carbon 12.

I don't know one person who knew of Acumen/Claypeople so its no surprise I am still getting people into this cd to this day. I got Big Shiny spears used at my local record store and I'm glad I did. Its a great guitar-heavy industrial album. Plenty of low heavy drums and awesome Synth breakdowns. Combined with the vocals of Daniel Neet of Clay People and Jason Novak of Acumen Nation you cant lose. Neets vocals are on the heaviest songs and it sounds awesome. If you like KMFDM or Rammstein or any hard-hitting heavy industrial then this is a must. The second record is good but not as good as this one. This album is underrated and undermentioned. Awesome disc!
