Comment: CD - same cover as pictured - Disc has quite a bit of surface marks but these marks should not affect the play - Insert is almost like new - Jewel case has some minimal shelf wear

Format: Audio CD
This quartet is so tight it squeaks! The ensemble has played together for quite some time, and it shows off well in this recording. Wife-and-husband combo Lori Mechem and Roger Spencer (gotta give Lori top billing!) team up with Andy Reis (stealth guitar) and the amazing Chris Brown (drums) to offer a prime distillation of Basie brandy for your ears. Lil' Darlin' is so understated as to be suspenseful, and the other numbers (witness: Splanky, Meet B.B.) swing so much you wonder why the' Count needed a horn section to get his musical message across. If you know what "in the pocket" means, be prepared for a major lint-fest. And if you find yourself in Nashville ("Music City USA"), check to see if there's a performance at the Nashville Jazz Workshop's "Jazz Cave" 'cause you're listening to the house band that often backs traveling guest artists.
