Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

*Starred Review* Tonkin brings back sea captain Richard Mariner and his wife, Robin, for yet another high-octane adventure. This time, the two are in Russia, overseeing the handover of their supertanker, Prometheus, to a Russian consortium that is buying the ship for parts. Despite the sale generating big profits for the Mariners' shipping company, Robin is uneasy about the deal--partly because she's sad to see the once-great ship turned into scrap metal but mostly because she doesn't trust the Russians. Her suspicions are well founded. While she and Richard are dining with the head of the consortium, Richard receives a mysterious phone call. He steps outside the restaurant to deal with it and doesn't return. Puzzled, Robin waits and waits, but when a group of sinister men approaches her table, she flees. Unable to reach Richard on his mobile, she heads for the only safe place she knows--Prometheus. And it's there that the most dangerous and challenging adventure of her life begins. Tonkin is a superb storyteller who creates big, brash, swashbuckling adventures with taut suspense, fast-paced action, and tough, resourceful characters. A fine series that will appeal to both male and female action fans. Emily Melton
