Book Description

A fictional story based on real interviews of the author's peers as well as her own while stationed in the United States Navy.

Cassie Littleton was spoiled by her high school sweetheart. Randall Mitchell’s wealth came from his construction business that he partnered with his father. He showered Cassie with high-end designer clothes and a Porsche convertible. A week after graduating from high school, the two planned to be married until a tragic motorcycle accident suddenly took Randall’s young life.
Attending the funeral of her fiancé on the day they were to be wed caused Cassie to fall into a deep depression. Realizing that she doesn’t have the financial means to support the lifestyle Randall provided her, she becomes an exotic dancer after undergoing an expensive breast augmentation.
After Cassie’s mother and father become aware of her new profession, she ceases the entertainment business and immediately joins the Navy. The exotic lifestyle seems to follow her wherever she goes. Taking the captain up on a harmless little dare changes the innocence of a simple Naval sailor to a demanding dominatrix. From sugar daddies to lust with a Naval lieutenant, this book will have you wondering what she will do next. Witness the drama unfold as Cassie believes she’s changing her life for the better, but it’s an ongoing whirlwind spinning out of control.

5 Stars! As a character based on myself, I was excited when I was asked to read the manuscript before it be sent off for publication.  The author is very descriptive in the book and it is very easy to follow.  I am honored that Mrs. Monares asked me to be a part of the story.  She demonstrated the utmost respect for my privacy.-An Anonymous Sailor

Janie was a former college student of mine.  I read the proof and loved it.  It keeps you interested throughout.  I didn't want to put it down for a second. - Professor Cain

I read one of the proof's.  I was stationed on an aircraft carrier over 10 years ago and I can relate to the story because I was exposed to gangs and prostitution on the ship.  I can't wait for Vol.2 to hit the shelves. - Jacqueline

5 Stars!  This book was captivating and titillating!  I was drawn in from the start.  Love that it's based on true events.  This book is added to my favorites list!

I enjoyed the plot, but the writing was poor. I felt as if I were reading a first draft from a new author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst book ever, don't trust its star rating April 16, 2012
By Jenjer
Format:Kindle Edition
The idea and cover art drew me into this book. That's about the last positive thing I can say about it. I can overlook a certain level of poor grammar, spelling or punctuation. This book is by far the worst I have ever read. I do expect anything you pay for to be written better than the average 12 year old could do. I got this book for free or I would have asked for a refund.

The only way this "book" has positive reviews are if they were written by the "Author" or her friends. The love scenes are just a few sentences long. Comparing this to Shades of Grey is an insult. Yes I have read that book too, when it was free and a fan fic.

This book is full of completely unrealistic situations. An example: giving the stewardess $100 onboard the plane to be upgraded to first class. No way kid, have you ever flown before? Getting a boob job and 2 weeks later becoming a stripper. Ever heard of swelling, healing, stitches anything at all associated with surgery?

Okay then the scene with the whip. You can not just pick a bull whip up and use it correctly, especially in a small confined space. You would hurt and scar both of you. Not to mention people would hear the crack and come running, thinking it's a gunshot.

Don't waste your time or money lots of well written free or almost free books out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right on! April 13, 2012

I absolutely loved this book! As a former female seaman myself it took me back to my Navy days. I can relate to a lot that she was saying happened, even the not so great stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Caught me by surprise March 29, 2012
Format:Paperback
Ship Mates is a remarkably addictive read. It is not at all the type of story I'd normally be interested in but I was asked by a friend to purchase it and read it. I thought I'd read a chapter or two and go on to something more my style and then eventually finish it. I bought it just this morning and started reading and kept wanting to find out what happened next. Before I knew it, I had finished it and I'm hoping to see what happens next in the sequel.

The characters are very engaging and the dialog flows freely from Janie Monares. Much of the material is highly sexually charged and I fully felt the excitement from those encounters in the book. Yes, I conjured up visual images of Cassie Littleton nude as she danced for a brief period in a strip club. I enjoyed the intimate tales of the men in her life and could feel the heat as buttons came undone, bras were unhooked and naked bodies came together. But ultimately, it was the way that Janie Monares built the character of Cassie in the book, the sympathy generated over the loss of her fiance in a motorcycle accident and having to attend his funeral on the day of their planned wedding, the heartbreak when she felt as a 19 year old that she couldn't return home once her parents found out she was stripping, and the joy she felt when she knew her parents had forgiven her that won me over and made me want to find out what happened next.
