If you're fortunate enough to find a copy of this CD, do not hesitate to buy it. Give 'er a listen and thank your lucky stars that you ever stumbled across it. Ned Sublette is one smart hombre. The Persuasions are their usual miraculous selves. Hear this and be amazed that you could ever have lived without it. "A New Pair of Shoes" is my own personal national anthem. This needs a re-issue, but pronto!

YEAH! If you can get hold of a copy, go ahead! The Persuasions team up with Lawrence Weiner and Ned Sublette and they create an Avante Garde meets Platters style 50's pop theme. I took a star off because of the swearing on both versions of Big Bang/New Flora contain plenty of swearing. Why, oh why? Couldn't they have as least said 'crap' instead of 'S**t' or even garbage or something? But the music is terrific. The opening track, ever widening circles, sounds like a 50's vocal group pop classic, as does Just over there (red). Ever widening circles of remourse is my favourite song. My second favourite song is Just over there (Silver) which is an avante garde version of doo wop. There is also some interesting ground covered throughout the album, like the gospel closer, There is no light at the end of the tunnel (red) and the country prog track There is ... (silver). Stars will not stand in the sky and A new pair or shoes are also great songs, avante garde doo wop is the best description, I suppose.
