I am former military and we used these to keep our shirts tucked in.
    Albert P.
The rubber button component of the clips folds and bends and is completely inadequate to hold onto either the shirt or the socks.

Those stays lasted that long, and I wear them every day with both my uniform and civilian shirts.

First of all, these are way too short to go from your sock to your shirt unless you are under 5 feet tall. I'm 5'10", and I had to pull out all of the slack to get them to reach my sock. Second, the little black rubber tabs that go through the metal ring are thin and poorly designed. They fold themselves in half and slip through the ring under the least amount of tension, and detach from the fabric. The first day I wore them, I had to excuse myself to the restroom multiple times to reattach everything. Eventually, I gave up and put on my old, worn out shirt stays for the rest of my shift. If you're looking for a good pair of shirt stays, get the ones made by Vanguard. They will last for years, and they are cheaper!

I like them fairly well. They are significantly superior to the other brand of shirt stays that Amazon sells.
First, I dont know what these other posters are talking about - I'm 6'2" and they work just fine with minimal adjustment. They're long enough. I wear a uniform shirt of regular length and crew socks. No problem. They are a little difficult to clasp but they stay put. I've had no problem with them falling off once pressure is pulled to them.
I also like them more than the other brand because they dont fall apart quickly. The others - the stiching would fall out after being sweated on, the rubber thing would tear out, they slipped off the shirt. etc.
I recommend these. Also, I wear them five days a week, 10 hours a day in uniform.
    edit
I must clarify. The picture shows all black shirt stays... those are made by Rothco. Rothco's shirt stays are inferior to the silver clasp shirt stays made by Jackster... even though the advertisement is for Jackster brand stays the picture shows Rothco's. Hope that's not too confusing.
Amazon has sent me before the all black ones and I returned them and specified that I wanted Jackster. They sent me the silver ones in return. If this happens to you, I suggest you do the same.
    another edit----
Amazon fixed the advertisement. They now show Rothco stays in the picture and made by Rothco in the ad. I do not recommend these. If Amazon doesn't sell Jackster brand anymore, I'll buy them from a military surplus store online.

I've worn garters since my days in the Air Force. These are the first I've bought that were soooo short. I mean really, who are these made for -- cub scouts?? Don't waste your time or your money, unless your under 5'5" these gaters are not for you.

I was in the military for 8 years and used shirt stays at least once a week. These are not them. They are extremely short and don't stretch well - I'm surprised that at 5'10" apberge was able to get them on at all. Pass on these.

So this is my second attempt to find worthwhile shirt garters to purchase. When I was in the military, the shirt garters I could get had nice, heavy duty silver metal ends, with heavy duty rubber ends that would hold under any condition, and would attach to even the thickest wool socks and heavy shirts. My previous order was from a different manufacturer, and the picture (incorrectly) shows silver metal ends. Any further similarity to actual useful shirt garters living or dead is not only unintentional, but completely impossible. Here is the best way to walk you, the purchaser, through your decision making process:
    1. Are the socks you will typically be wearing thinner than tissue paper?
    2. Are your fingers dexterous enough to force clothesline rope through the hole in a darning needle?
    3. Are your shirts so flimsy that the gust of wind from a mouse fart would be enough to rip the material?
    4. Can you curse fluently in six languages?
If you have answered yes to all these questions, then these are the shirt garters for you!

The elastic was good and tense however I was unable to keep the plastic stays attached to my shirt. I use shirt stays for my uniform which is a thin polyester material and I couldn't keep it attached.

The elastic seems fine, but the rubbery plastic parts at the end, which are supposed to hold your shirt, can't keep a single layer of fabric between them.

    Totally unusable.

This seller has good service except for the fact that the item pictured is not the actual item. The shirt stays I actually received do not stay clipped on my polyester uniform shirt very well at all.
