This venerable deity, of over 4000 years' history, is dramatically presented in an essay and rare photographs by authors who have spent periods of time with yogis and at sacred places throughout India and Nepal.

Wow! This book is so interesting and so fascinating! The pictures are awesome. There is something about pictures from India and their colors; I noticed these great warm colors also when watching ORIGINS OF YOGA, a great yoga-documentary. This book will tell you all about Shiva - God of Destruction, yet in a way that you are just drawn to it as it's so mesmerizing.
I can only highly recommend this book!!!

This review is from: Shiva (White orchid books) (Paperback)
The book is a short, easy read, and is broken down into simple chapters based on subject. There are many good photos in the book, which is its strongest attribute. Chapters include Shiva's background, four of of His manifestations, Parvati His consort and His two sons, His vehicle Nandi, His symbols and worship, and His yogis and festivals. There are a few basic myths included as well. There is a basic description of the Shiva's rule of the cycles of life, death and rebirth and a few other spiritual concecpts. Ideal for younger readers and those unfamiliar with Shiva.
