4.0 out of 5 stars Shock Doctor Youth Braces just ok
My son is 11 and while this does a good job of protecting, a hard bite easily slices through the guard. This really is no different from any other mouthpiece. I was a little surprised that it wasn't more sturdy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Falls Short (and out of your mouth).
I regrettably had to return the Shock Doctor for Braces due to the fact it would not stay on my braces or even in my mouth. I play soccer as a goalie and need to protect my braces and mouth so I purchased one of the only options for us adults (over 30) with braces. This item just did not work.

I am now purchasing the cheap boil and bites and every week I just boil them again and reshape them to fit my teeth. What a waste of money. Nice idea but a terrible product for me.

Beware this one-size-fits-all product. It did not fit the person I bought it for (not even close) and is very difficult to return, which is understandable. You would think the manufacturer "Shock Doctor" might step in an give you some kind of credit, but they don't. You'll likely end up with a pricey piece of worthless gel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Youth...really?, November 20, 2010
This review is from: Shock Doctor Braces Specific Mouthguard (Misc.)
Judging from the price tag (purchased at Sports Authority), I assumed I was getting a great product. That wasn't the case. My 12 yr old daughter can't even close her mouth around it. Maybe she has an abnormally small mouth but it doesn't fit around her braces either and won't stay in place. $17 gone. I went back and got the single mouth guard for braces made by Shock Doctor. Even worse. Another $15 gone. I decided to try the $.99 boil and mold mouth guard from Walmart. Perfect. Even if I go through 40 of them in the next couple of years, I'll still be ahead because they actually work. We had to boil it a few times to get it around her braces comfortably but she can easily call out plays now without it falling out of her mouth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Deffinetly a waste of money, August 5, 2008

I was excited to find something that would work with my braces but this product did not work at all. It does not fit securely. I opened my mouth and it falls out. I tried to boil it and...you can't! There is nothing to bond it to your teeth! There is $15.00 down the drain. Save your money and buy a different that one because this is just a waste of money.

Soft, comfortable. Shapes well to the mouth. works well with braces and retainers. My adult son's been away for two years and asked me to find this mouthguard for him. It's his favorite.

This product is great. It fits very well and it does what it says about not needing to adjust each time the braces get adjustments.
