The compression shorts are comfortable, fit well, and keep everything together nicely. You know, where it all should be. The cup is solid, but flexible, and breathable. But when you actually put the cup inside the pocket on the compression shorts... you have to wonder what the people at Shock Doctor were thinking.

First of all, the pocket for the cup is OUTSIDE of the compression shorts. So when the cup is inserted, it just kind of floats there above your junk. It's not very snug, not very tight. Lo and behold, the first time I was kicked while wearing the cup/shorts combo, it pinched something fierce and scared me for my future progeny.

There is a quick fix: if you wear the cup in a jock underneath the shorts then all is well. It works quite nicely this way. But that entails buying a jock. Which was not my intention in buying this combo in the first place.

I practice boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, therefore I need a cup.

This thing shifts, smashes, and snakes around far too much to be worthwhile. I've had my berries smashed, exposed, and I'm constantly shifting this thing to get comfortable. I'm pretty easy going on my reviews, but I DO NOT recommend this thing.

The Shock Dr. compression shorts could indeed shock due to the built-in design of the cup pocket. It doesn't allow the cup to float deep enough. If the wearer bends over, the fabric doesn't allow movement of the cup; the position of the cup changes to a very uncomfortable one that would cause great pain should it be "forced" to protect the protectables. As an umpire, bending over is part of the job; around 250+ times a game. I would like to think comfort and protection were with me during the whole game.

While the shorts are very good quality and so is the cup. But putting these 2 together aint such a good idea. The cup goes inside the shorts in a pocket specified for it. But the problem is if the shorts are high or low or side to side from movement so will the cup be. And than "things" tend not to stay in place. I have big legs so as I run, twist, bend or flex my leg muscles while boxing or jogging the shorts will adjust accordingly hence the cup will move out of place as they are in the shorts. The shorts feel good and fit me as perfect as can be. But they still don't position the cup in the right place where it should be at all times.

Get the Shock Doctor Ultra Supporter instead. These compression shorts push the cup up so that it ends up resting on my groin instead of protecting it. It became such a problem that I just decided to pull the cup out (only had the compression shorts on). However, the shorts for some reason keeps pinching on my groin skin. It makes it very difficult to do arm bars, and even hold half guard. I also have had the Ultra Supporter for the past year which worked excellent. Now I'm sorry I decided to switch to the shorts.

My weight fluctuates anywhere from 135 to 150. SO I ordered size small. The shorts fit just fine. But I find that when I put the cup in the shorts my nuts sometimes fall out of the cup. Maybe I needed a medium? But Im afraid that when pulling armbars or getting kicked by accident in the groin my nuts might get squished between my leg and the side of the cup.

I ordered the shorts and cup combo recently on the recommendation of several people who don't do much in the way of martial arts. I practice Muay Thai several times a week and needed a cup so I could start sparring. This cup is NOT for sparring. It shifts around a lot when you throw kicks and it sometimes pinches sensitive areas. Also, the raised front makes you look like you have an erection.

I've purchased a number of these for use in jujitsu classes. These classes are very physical and your equipment takes a beating in protecting you. The Shock Doctor products fit extremely well and stay in place despite all kinds of grappling, judo throws and exercises including running, jumping jacks and yoga-like stretching. I would give this a five-star rating if they were just a bit more durable. I do end up purchasing four or more each year but that's largely due to the rigor of the sport and the constant washing. I would highly recommend.

Please note I only gave a good score because these will probably do well for baseball or football, but not BJJ.

I've been trying to replace my cup jock strap lately to cup compression shorts instead. After much research I purchased these shock doctor compression shorts with the BIO cup and I also purchased a JACO guardian compression cup shorts. I'm 5'9 200lbs and purchased the XL, at first, my personal opinion was that these shock doctors fit pretty tight or at least snug but it's not terribly noticeable. If you're playing a sport like baseball or football then these should be fine, but I DO NOT recommend these for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Standing up the compression shorts are fine and protect the needed area but once you are on the ground and playing guard on your back with your knees and feet up then the cup raises off your groin area and actually leaves space for pinching. It's hard to explain but due to how these are constructed and how shallow the cup pocket is it will lift the cup off the area you're trying to protect if you're trying to play guard. Maybe this isn't an all around problem for the smaller guys but I'm a fat boy so it's a problem for me.

So far the JACO gauradian shorts don't have this problem and are far better for BJJ than the shock doctor.

I bought these for my son who plays lacrosse and he loves them. He has had Shock Doctor before but these seem to be a little longer in the leg, which he prefers. They are very well made and support it all the right places.
