Good on their own, but together, crap,

This review is from: Shock Doctor Men's Power Compression Short with BioFlex Cup (Apparel)
The compression shorts are comfortable, fit well, and keep everything together nicely. You know, where it all should be. The cup is solid, but flexible, and breathable. But when you actually put the cup inside the pocket on the compression shorts... you have to wonder what the people at Shock Doctor were thinking.
First of all, the pocket for the cup is OUTSIDE of the compression shorts. So when the cup is inserted, it just kind of floats there above your junk. It's not very snug, not very tight. Lo and behold, the first time I was kicked while wearing the cup/shorts combo, it pinched something fierce and scared me for my future progeny. There is a quick fix: if you wear the cup in a jock underneath the shorts then all is well. It works quite nicely this way. But that entails buying a jock. Which was not my intention in buying this combo in the first place.

Shockable Dr.,

The Shock Dr. compression shorts could indeed shock due to the built-in design of the cup pocket. It doesn't allow the cup to float deep enough. If the wearer bends over, the fabric doesn't allow movement of the cup; the position of the cup changes to a very uncomfortable one that would cause great pain should it be "forced" to protect the protectables. As an umpire, bending over is part of the job; around 250+ times a game. I would like to think comfort and protection were with me during the whole game.

I've purchased a number of these for use in jujitsu classes. These classes are very physical and your equipment takes a beating in protecting you. The Shock Doctor products fit extremely well and stay in place despite all kinds of grappling, judo throws and exercises including running, jumping jacks and yoga-like stretching. I would give this a five-star rating if they were just a bit more durable. I do end up purchasing four or more each year but that's largely due to the rigor of the sport and the constant washing. I would highly recommend.

I practice boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, therefore I need a cup.
This thing shifts, smashes, and snakes around far too much to be worthwhile. I've had my berries smashed, exposed, and I'm constantly shifting this thing to get comfortable. I'm pretty easy going on my reviews, but I DO NOT recommend this thing.

Not good for Brazillian Jiu Jitsu,

Get the Shock Doctor Ultra Supporter instead. These compression shorts push the cup up so that it ends up resting on my groin instead of protecting it. It became such a problem that I just decided to pull the cup out (only had the compression shorts on). However, the shorts for some reason keeps pinching on my groin skin. It makes it very difficult to do arm bars, and even hold half guard. I also have had the Ultra Supporter for the past year which worked excellent. Now I'm sorry I decided to switch to the shorts.

Great training shorts for martial arts,

If you are looking for a compression short with a cup, look no further. The Shock Doctor Compression Shorts with the cup is fantastic. I use it in my martial arts classes and give me the compression around my hips, thighs and back for extra support and warmth.
I liked them so much that I bought an extra pair.

I bought these for my son who plays lacrosse and he loves them. He has had Shock Doctor before but these seem to be a little longer in the leg, which he prefers. They are very well made and support it all the right places.

The only cup jock/short I have ever worn that fits well and does not 'crush' you while protecting you. The cup is ok, very similar to Bike brand, etc. Get it if you are in contact sports/judo or jujitsu.

Uncomfortable-cup doesn't stay in place,

I train MMA, muay thai, and jiu jitsu. I bought these shorts so that I wouldn't need a jock. The problem is that the cup never stays in place when I use the shorts and the cup, especially when grappling. When you use the cup in the shorts, it is also very uncomfortable. The bioshock cup is terrible. It is very skinny (in the area it covers) and I'll just say everything doensn't fit. Even using a good shock doctor alloy cup, these shorts still stink. The cup moves too much. I went back to traditional compression shorts and a jock and these work better.

Well-made, both the shorts and the cup. Unfortunately, shorts too small for my husband to use. He is in a long-term nursing facility for therapy to recover from a stroke, and one of the therapy machines causes him discomfort, which is why I bought these. They are just too hard to wrestle onto him.
